Seal tape from toner cartridge tore

prining invoices to letterhead, your laser printer is an integral part of your company's computer system. The device's ink is stored in one or more toner cartridges that are replaceable - a single black cartridge, if you have a laser printer that only prints black, or three color cartridges along with a black cartridge if the laser printer prints both color and black. The cartridges are available at office supply, retail and warehouse stores. Like inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges contain a strip of sealing tape that keeps the powder ink from spilling out until you are ready to install the cartridge.

1Remove the toner cartridge from its packaging, if the cartridge is still in its box, and shake the cartridge from side to side to evenly distribute its toner.

2Hold the cartridge away from your body so ink won't spill onto your clothes or shoes. Grab the cartridge's sealing tape on the side of the cartridge and pull the tape firmly away from the cartridge. The sealing tape contains a plastic end piece for grasping it, usually in a different color than the toner cartridge.

3Continue pulling the sealing tape until it is completely out of the cartridge. Place the cartridge close to your printer or on a surface nearby until you are ready to install it. Dispose of the sealing tape in a trashcan or bag; try not to get any toner present on the tape on your hands or clothing.

Pro905 is out of color ink. can i print in black and white text only

The Lexmark Platinum Pro905 needs all four inks to have substantial ink for printing at all times in order to prevent damage to the printhead. This is why a user has to replace empty ink cartridges to continue printing. This includes color cartridges for black only jobs.

How to change the ink cartridge

Checking the ink levels
  1. Open the HP Director .
  2. Click Settings , point to Print Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox .
  3. After the Printer Toolbox opens, click the Estimated Ink Level tab.
  4. For information on obtaining replacement cartridges, click Print Cartridge Ordering Information .

A thick black line prints out on back of paper every time i print.

called the local Canon printer repair facility, and a serviceman said that the black line is caused by too much ink in the ink absorber device below the paper path. He said to fix it requires disassembling part of the printer, replacing the absorber foam, installing a longer tip for the excess ink, and reassembling and testing the printer. I asked if this would be a permanent fix. He said no, that the problem could reoccur as the absorber foam would eventually fill up again.
This was posted 2 years ago by Shadyman.
The foam he is talking about is underneath the gray metallic strip that you see when you open the cover.
I used strips of electrical tape to cover that area where the ink is being picked up.
You can open the cove more by dislodging the piston on the right side. Needs two people, one to push the flaps apart and the other to pull the joint out.
Cut a 4 inch long strip, than fold the tape on it self such that there is about 3/4 of sticky tape left. This will allow you to push that portion underneath the metal strip where the paper normally would go. Place it at the location where the black line is (on the Paper). This will create a barrier between the foam and the paper as it moves by. ( I just had to figure out how I can do that)
Secure the tape by taping it on the the black bar, the one with the little fins on it.
I was able to push the tape down a little gap between the black bar and where the white rollers are. Make sure that the tape lays as flat as possible on that bar.
You may need to use two tape strips to cover the area..
I can also see my strips as I look from the outside at the **** where the paper comes out the printer onto the tray.
I guess the the foam swells up and hits a roller, which than offset prints the ink onto the underside of the paper.
Now I have no black line any more.
I know it's a fix, not a repair, but it works so fare.
Thanks to Shadyman for leading me in the right direction.

After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?

Hello,

Try this procedure:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
