I have a 91 MR2. Everything was working fine and simultaneously the condenser fans are running constantly, the power steering is not working, all power was lost to the electric windows and the AC system is not functioning. Obviously electrical. Can you point me to what all of these things have in common that failed?

If the power steering pump is a pressure/oil based unit then open the lid of the power steering pump and fill to the top. with the engine working turn the steering from lock to lock for a few minutes, two to three should be enough. Simultaneously, keep an eye on the fluid level so that it does not drop too far.se

Lay the fan all the way to the bottom of the engine compartment below and out of the way of the alternator. (You do not need to pull it completely out of the car.) Remove the outside passenger side cowl with 2 screws. Loosen the tensioner on the alternator belt then remove the belt from the alternator pulley. (First loosen the pulley nut and then back off the long tensioning bolt from the bottom.) Unplug the green plug from the alternator. Unbolt the bolt from the top and the long bolt from the bottom of the alternator. A short pry bar helps lifting the bottom of the alternator from its bracket. Then undo the 10mm nut on the charge wire. Now reach through the quarter panel and ease the alternator back and out through the vent hole in the quarter panel.

I think its a cooling fan relay. Replace it and should be fine. Or a faulty temp sensor. But I bet its the relay.

You might check the cooling fans on the condenser to see if they are running when the ac is on.If they are not check for blown fuse,or bad cooling fan relay.Do you notice if the ac cools better when running constantly,and the ac is not so cool when in traffic,stopping and going,and running slow?If so the cooling fan,or fans are not working.If the fan fuse and the relays check out fine,then replace the fan,or fans.If I can help any more please [email protected]

When you say you have checked the relays and fuses i hope you checked to see if they have power getting to them. Besides that The most frequent cause of problems is simply a bad contact in wiring connectors. Always check that connections are secure. Inspect the contacts for bent pins or corroded. You may also want to inspect the ground side of the circuit. If everything checks out then you have a bad fuel pump.

Just a thought
We had problem with gear being difficult to select.
Found that one of the gearbox to engine bolts was loose.
Difficult to get to them but when tightened the gears select ok.

if the vehicle was in an accident the vehicle needs to be checked for proper alignment, secondly being a car so old chances are that the fluid is very dirty and the sensor is not working properly i would change the sensor on the pump and change the fluid also.
