I am trying to fix my cd reader because it does not read anything

If the disks work in some other CD/DVD reader, then it's time to replace the CD/DVD reader in your computer. Take the computer to a qualified technician -- this is not a "user-replaceable" part -- to get the job done correctly.

Sounds like a dirty lens on the reader.... Not familiar with the mac's drive, does the laser assembly come out with a drawer for the cd?... or is it a slot load?. if its a drawer, clean the lens, if it's a slot, try a cleaning disk. failing this, you could have a faulty reader... Ho-Hum...

It is too late to find out the issue and return SH-S182D drive.
SH-S182D drive has compatibility issue, none of firmware (including the latest) is "perfect" so far.
I couldn't do anything but wait for Samsung to release new firmware to fix their drive.

Same **** with my Samsung SH-S182M. In a nutshell, it burns DVD's then can't read them while my old, cheap DVD reader can. Once in a while it manages to read one making me think I've fixed the problem.

All i can say to you is buy a new one my friend.

Its the Disk Drive, its not able to read it because something got in there and scratched the reader, or its just old and broke. but a new disk drive will fix the problem.

Probably indicates the blu-ray reader has died. Have you tried an audio cd to see if that works? Either way, try unplugging the power from the console, leave it unplugged for 60 seconds, replug it in. If after that it still does not read anything you will need to contact Sony for warranty repair.

There would be a problem with cd reader lens
sou need to change it from the company if its in a warrenty or get it repaired from a person who is in to Chip Level Repairing

May be trying to re-install your Adobe acrobat Reader could solve the problem.
The files that could not be located can be replaced and the error is gone!

might be ur cd is scratched so it cannot read the files from cd i mean that some sectors on cd is been damaged so it cannot read put a disk cleaner on the cd and clean the cd it might work if it did not i order to recover the information i can suggest u with the software called bad copy ull get the trial version of it here http://www.jufsoft.com/badcopy/?rid=BadCopy&vid=3.75&bid=0608 download it and recover the whole disk into ur computer the files present in the disk will get transferred on ur computer and the the files in bad sectors also will be read and transferred if both of this did not work put that cd in some other computer i reads copy those cd files to some other empty disk and run it on ur computer this solution is when it runs on other computer if it runs in other computer then there is a problem with ur cdrom if disk does not run in other computer it is the problem of disk and u can solve it by the above mentioned software

Maybe you should fix the cds or clean them or try to fix the disc reader in the radio.
