Hello

OK, this is not good at all...This means that your Hard drive is failing. The best advice you can be givin at this moment will be to backup the data on the drive as soon as possible, it might be too late already.

If the drive does not want to backup, you will need to send it to a recovery centre to recover the data.

If you need a second opinion, click HERE.

Kind regards
Andrea

Hello, From what you have said, it means that your hard disc is giving signs of weakness,it is better you back up all your documents now before it finally fails, from what you have said, it is a hardware problem of the hard disk, if it is still under warranty, i would suggest you return it and collect a new one.but if not, back up all your files as soon as possible to an external storage, may be an external HDD.Prevention is better than cure!!! Regards

WE Clicking sound from cooler?

What is 'WE'?, short for weekend, 'wee' it is very small said in a Scottish accent :>D

Clicking means it is overheating at the condenser. Vacuum all the fluff out of the condenser coils. The cabinet is far too hot at 55'F, it should be 35 - 38. It may need gas.

Aim to stay between 35° and 38°F (or 1.7 to 3.3°C). This temperature range is as close as you can get to freezing without being so cold that your food will freeze. It's also as close as the refrigerator temperature should get to the 40°F threshold, at which point bacteria begin multiplying rapidly.

I'm trying to extract files from a HDS728040PLAT20 clicking and wont read

When a hard drive encounters this problem, it can sometimes be solved temporarily by changing the heat. Because all metals expand and contract in heat changes, this can sometimes get it unstuck.
You can try putting it in the freezer for 1-2 minutes and then plugging it in, or heating up a material, such as a hot/cold pack a little and then warming the drive up.

The drive will not spin up, all I hear is a very faint "clicking" sound. I have heard I could freeze the drive, or wack it.

you have a dirty hard drive the clicking sound is the reader arm skipping across the hard drive platters give your hard drive a firm tap to side which will free up the reader arm once you freeze it it will only last a short amount of time

Unit starts, it cools fine, but all of a sudden it stops I used to click on the interrupter, but it doesn't work anymore I take the power off for 15 min, connect again, it works 2 minutes and then stops.

Low freon will usually cause a freeze up, your sounds like an overheat shut off, compressors get hot, but if the get too hot there is usually a safety shut off... also, if the compressor is wearing out you can install a hard start cap inline with the compressor to bang it into operation. It would make an unusual humming sound if your compressor is not turning... capacitors are inherently dangerous when charged, so you may need someone to install it for you. The caps are not expensive.

My hard drive has been making a clicking noise for a while, the computer freezes up at times, I do not think the cooling fan is working, could this cause the issue with the hard drive making noise, and if...

More than likely, your hard drive is failing. This COULD be the cause for the freezing. The other thing that could cause the freezing is if the processor is getting too hot due to the failed fan. Either way you will need to have your HD replaced before it fails completely. The clicking you are hearing is the read head hitting the case of the hard drive. It might have started from being too hot. If the parts of your computer are getting too hot, it will increase the chances that they will fail in the future.

Unfortantly in your case if you are getting a clicking sound then this means that the hard drive is failing and you will need to replace it.

You can replace it with any standard notebook computer hard drive. The last part in the link below will cover removing the hard drive from your PS3 if you are not sure on how to do this.

Its not freezing

That clicking is probably a fried compressor relay. VERY common on newer maytag refrigerators .They recalled a gazillion of them lately. Remove the relay and give it a shake. if it sounds like a salt shaker it is bad. If little particles come out of it, it is bad. If it makes no sound at all it is bad. The start run switch inside slides in there. If you can't feel it sliding then it is fried and the compressor will get hot as heck.
