Need a new printer that is compatible with windows 98

What inexpensive printers out thre now will work with windows 98. Only use this computer for work processing type prints NOT stuff off interenet. Just for work at reception desk. Need to know what to buy as the Compaq IJ300 died.

    I have Windows 98 and I need a printer...and I need one that will not be too expensive...What printers are compatable with Windows 98....I found out the hard way today, that HP is not.....

    I have an IBM Aptiva Computer E 96 And Windows 98.
    I have a flatbed IMB Scanner which just died, as did my Epson printer. When I tried to buy a new scanner and printer or even an all in one Staples said we have nothing that works with Windows 98. Can anyone help to suggest who has one. Also I bought a Sony 8 GB Micro Vault USB CLICK. because I had very little memory left. And then found out that too would not work with a Windows 98. So I need a hard drive or Click to store files to give me and my computer space. I really would appreciate any suggestions. Neither IBM or Staples have helped. Please!

    We have purched a new HP printer, but it will not work with Windows 98. We need a inexpensive printer that will service our needs.

Brother DCP 130 has win98 drivers available. Up till recently Epson still included win98 drivers but this has been discontinued.

HP doesn't have the drivers for win 98 available for download. If you don't have the CD, you try ordering the CD from here. Click the link under "CD-ROM order page".

I don't know for sure that the CD is the same as the one that shipped with the new printer. The original CD would have the software for 98.

Want to buy computer printer compatible with Microsolf 98 OS sys
If you buy a brand new printer all of those are already included in the box along with a manual.

As for your printer maybe you can download a new driver which is compatible with a new OS.

How can i install a canon ip 1900 in windows 98?
Try going to the Canon website and download your software. ( http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010647.asp )

Uninstall any software that you may already have install for the Canon by going to ' add & remove programs ', uninstall your canon printer by going to ' printers & faxes, disconnect your Canon printer from your computer.

Reboot your computer.

Install the Canon printer software that you downloaded.

Hook up your Canon printer to your computer.

The software should install automatically. If not, re-install the software you downloaded.

Windows 98 is not compatible with this unit. I could not find info that it was compatible. I went as far to contact brother directly and they gave me the same info, it is not compatible. There are rarely any new units that you can find that are compatible with windows 98. My suggestion would be to upgrade to windows xp or vista. Tiger Direct has great prices for windows OEM versions, service pack 2 is going for 90 bucks. They are a reputable store/online warehouse. They always deliver on time and i never had damages. Let me know if you need more info
