I can't seem to pull up a IP address. I was able to go online until recently, I preformed a test connection but that failed. I tried to reregister the wireless router on the ps3 and still I couldn"t pull up a IP address. could you suggest how I get my ps3 to work again?

If your modem pulled a new or different ip address and you did not reset your router it could be trying to use the old IP address and there would be a conflict. IP addresses usually have a lease of 24 hours, S if your IP was refreshed at noon and you reset your mdem and for sopme reason it obtained a new ip address the router would not be able to connect until noon the following day when it tried to refresh. Rebooting the router should cause it to sync back up with the modem and pull the correct IP address. You may need to log into your router and manually release and renew the IP address even after rebooting your router, I have seen a few routers that would still not pull the new address unless this was done. My preferred method is to unplug power from the router, then reboot the modem. Only after the modem is synced back up do I plug power back into the router, so far this has seemed to work the best.
Reset your router, then give your PS3 a static IP address and go into your router interface, find the DMZ feature and put in the IP address that you gave the PS3, just make sure the IP you give it is within the DHCP pool of IP addresses.
The PS3 will now be sat outside the routers firewall giving you FULL access to internet content and gaming online.
Now test connection settings and you will notice you will now have an open connection to the internet.
Hi can you please help me i was on xbox live tryed to connect with a router and now my 360 is askin for an ip address, but we do not no it can you please help thanks Paul
Okay I didn't read every post but here is what you need to fix the dreaded BS on not being able to connect to friends.....The DMZ on your wireless router needs to be enabled and the IP address of your DMZ needs to be that of your Xbox 360. Go on your settings in your xbox and go under network settings and look at the IP address, put that exact IP address in your DMZ address setting on your wireless router settings. Make sure its enabled and the IP address is EXACTLY what it says on your xbox network settings. That should solve it all. That bypasses all your security for the xbox. Might want to put the UPNP on enable too. So the DMZ and the UPNP are both settings on your wireless router. If you have linksys its 192.168.1.1 or the linksys voice 192.168.15.1...... Try them both in your address bar, of course one at a time and DO NOT PUT www. JUST PUT 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.15.1 It should pull up a password screen and both username and pw are admin if you did not already change them. If you don't have linksys then just go online and find out how to change the settings on the router u have. This should solve it all and get you back online and rocking and rolling. Now you must do the same with your PS3 if you are having the same problems. Give me feedback on if it works. You can hit me up on xbox at BKM80. Good luck
What the repair option does is more or less disable and then enable the network connection to refresh the systems settings.
This article explains what exactly it does:
http://www2.lut.fi/atk/palvelut/PCTUKI/Windows/XP/Repair_NetWork_Conn.html
? Attempts to renew the DHCP lease, if the connection obtains its IP address through DHCP, using a broadcast message.
? Flushes the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) cache using the command
arp -d *
? Flushes the NetBIOS cache using the command
nbtstat -R
? Flushes the DNS cache using the command
ipconfig /flushdns
? Reregisters the NetBIOS name and IP address with WINS using the command
nbtstat -RR
? Reregisters the computer name and IP address with DNS using the command
ipconfig /registerdns
So if this is what is being done, lets try to trouble shoot each symptom and see what resolves it.
My first inclination would be to check your DHCP scope on your server, and see if your scope is running out of space. Also check the lease length and see if it is set to a small amoutn of time. Your PCs could be losing their IP addresses and thus need to get new ones all the time.
Are you pinging by IP or name. I would do most of the ping tests by IP as that would remove any of the name resolution issues you may be encountering.
Is the wireless brindge doing any type of mac-address or arp filtering?
Also, can machines in the extension always ping each other constantly? This would help narrow down the problem to see if it is an IP problem on the hosts or a possible network equipment issue.
