What Toshiba laptop do you have and what is the operating system? It could just be your ethernet card that is not installed properly.

First thing is the operating system. What windows version you ae using has a lot to do with how to proceed. You need to look in device manager in the control panel to see what it says about your wireless device. Then you should check the error messages to see what they are

How do I fix internet proxy settings

Most people don't need a proxy server unless it's in a corporate environment.

On your laptop, try going into your control panel -> Internet options -> Connections tab -> LAN Settings button and uncheck all of the boxes. Hit OK until you get back to the control panel. Try your internet and see if it works.

Is this the first time you are trying to connect to your Internet with that Toshiba laptop?

If that is your first time you need to call first your Internet Service Provider and check what can they do for you.

If there is no problem with you Internet Service Provider, try to press the FN+F8 keys these are the toggle keys to enable or disable your Wifi.

When you press those two keys observe the laptop if you will have a message that says Wireless Connection is On or Off. If it is off, try to press those two keys again to turn on the laptop.

I believe your laptop came with a Wireless On/Off switch, check that also if it is on there will be a light indicator for the Wireless Connection. It should be a steady light.

Now, if the wireless connection of your laptop is on and still you can't connect to your wireless connection, try to update the drivers for your Network Adapter.

Here's the link for the latest driver:

You need to search for your operating system and choose the Wi-fi on all categories.

You need to save it first on the laptop and after that you will have an option to run it on the laptop. After the installation of new driver try to restart the laptop and try to connect to your Internet.

If that will not work.

You need to contact Toshiba technical support at

Hope this helps. :-)

A "Diagnostics" can identify the cause of the problem, or (errors) and try to correct, the "Internet" connection. Go, to: Control Panel, select "Network and Internet." Select, (“view network and task status”),choose a task”, to performed, from the (left) pane. You can start a quick diagnostic by clicking on the connection "diagram", Computer---WNC---Internet. “You can (setup) personal computer, internet settings.” I hope this Fix it.

No Internet No Disk for drivers

go to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Product%20Support#

select your product and download the drivers to your external drive

connect it to your friends laptop and install them, if you want it quicker just get the network drivers from the site, transfer and install then you can get all the other drivers directly to the laptop you are working on

hope that helps you, these are from the US site btw, if you want them for other locations (shouldn't make a difference) then go to toshiba.com and select your region
