SOURCE: printer door open message

Apparently a solution has already been posted here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t345435-ip4300canon_printer

The author provides instructions on opening the printer and gluing the sensor into the "open" position (assuming that the sensor still works).

Further to this, the sensors can give way. Try soldering or pushing the two connections together. If you need to test, you will have to put the lid back on but you can leave the sensor out of the rinter by draping between the cover and the frame of the putput tray (be careful not to pinch it. AAMOF I leave my sensor out as even though I've pinched it together it has a habit of coming undone.

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA iP5300 InkJet thinks paper output tray is closed (it isnt) and won't print!

It was rather easy to figure out how to pop the silver plastic outter casing off, but now that I have it off I still can't seem to identify where the switch that signals the paper outter tray is.

SOURCE: Paper output tray is open but message says it is closed

I solved this problem by putting a shim between the door & switch lever.
The shim is just a piece of cardboard/plastic/whatever about the thickness of a credit card & about 1/4 inch wide.
At the lower right corner of the paper outlet is an opening about 1/4 inch square. On the right side deep in this opening is a lever (rather hard to see). When the door is opened it lifts the lever up (presumably telling the printer the door is open). I took a small screwdriver, inserted it into the left side of the opening, turned it counterclockwise until it caught the edge of the lever & lifted it up, inserted the shim below the lever, & withdrew the screwdriver. This solved the problem (it has only recurred once since the shim was put in).
If the shim falls out just reinsert it. Of course, if you ever want to close the door you need to remove the shim first.

I receive the following message on the PC display: "Document printing cannot be executed because the paper output tray is closed. Open the paper output tray. Printing will restart". I want to mention

The blinking is just an attention light so there's nothing to worry about that. Try adjusting your paper tray to the paper size you are about to use. Or try checking the duplexer panif its positioned properly. Hope this helps.

Printer notes "Error 6000". It is being used

Take a close look at the printer and the paper tray. The error usually means that the paper output tray is closed (or something is blocking it from opening). Remove the object blocking the paper tray and pull it fully open (including the extension). Then turn off the printer and turn it back on. The error can also occur when a book is being scanned that blocks the paper tray.

Some documentation on the Canon error messages for the MX860 is here: https://www.canon.ie/Support/Consumer_Products/products/Fax__Multifunctionals/InkJet/PIXMA_MX_series/PIXMA_MX860.aspx?faqtcmuri=tcm:24-644260&page=1&type=faq .

I hope this helps.

Canon Pixma i4300. Front output paper tray pounced on by pet cat. Closed it up and opened it again When I try to print I get this message: "Document printing cannot be executed because the paper...

If you can remove the tray - have a look at it and it should come out without much force by pressing on the sides. If it comes out you may see the sensor inside that maybe is bent up and is not registering that the tray is open. If you see it you can bend it back down. You can also shoot canned air(with the tray in the out position of removed from the machine) and a piece of debris may come out. Use short squirts or the can gets very cold. All the office supply places and computer stores sell the cans of compressed air.

If none of the above helps, you can always communicate directly with Cannon at:

I have Canon pixma MX310 and I just trying to set it up.I'm trying to print and there is message open paper out tray. What is that mean and how I can fix it

The printer will not print as long as the paper output tray is closed.
  1. Open the Paper Output Tray (2).
Put your finger in the rounded indent beside the Paper Output Tray and open it gently.

  2. Open the Output Tray Extension (3).
Open up and set the Output Tray Extension completely by pressing down the hollow on its front side.

  3. Adjust the position of the Paper Thickness Lever (4).
Set it to the right when printing on envelopes or T-shirt transfers, and left when printing on any other type of paper.

The ip4500 will not print - says the paper output tray is open!

Just fixed this problem on mine. Need to remove the covers, watch these 2 vids to see how..
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=martop49#p/u/1/iQdHDR6po80

Then on the right side where the on switch is, near the hinge is a little switch with 2 yellow wires, it's probably broke. Pull the 2 wires out and solder or twist them together, then put everything back together. It will now assume the door is always open. Jobs a good'n :)
