I am using windows home premiun os.my gainward usb sound card driver supports my pc which is running windows xp but doesnt support my laptop which is running windows 7.

Desktop and laptop does not support all the hardware and software components. Software that you run on xp may not work on your laptop OS win 7 because win 7 supports at 64 bit processing bits and xp may have 32 bit. Now let me talk about hardware.Hardware is made for some specific motherboard and it can only be performed by its specific hardware devices. Thanks for using FixYa.

My problem is to know who is the true author of windows xp

Microsoft owned Windows XP. We cannot placed a specific author for this software. Lots of people work on it to bring out the final product. This is the same with other softwares like CorelDraw, Photoshop, etc.

How can I use my Cakewalk plasma 2003 software om my new windows 7 computer?

As you know Plasma runs on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP. I don't have any specific knowledge of Plasma 2003 but if it needs specific drivers you are probably screwed since there is no Vista support listed.
Win7 has the capability of running XP Virtual machine (available on Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate, allows you to run multiple Windows environments, such as Windows XP Mode, from your Windows 7 desktop). It slows the software down and may not be good for Plasma. I've used it for some old software.
I did a lot of searching and could not find specifics to your question. I take it from your question it is not working.

Specific drivers for you printer are available for Windows 2000/XP, Windows 9x/ME, Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit, Windows and Windows XP 64-bit.

A listing of Windows 7 compatibility is available here:

http://kmbs.konicaminolta.us/content/support/windows7.html

The list shows that there should have been a Windows 7 compatible driver by June 2010. There is no specific Windows 7 driver for your printer; however the site does provide a Universal Printer Driver

Installing windows xp on hp pavilion dv 6516 tx

I'm not sure solution #1 is very explanatory, so....

IF you want to install XP on your computer, Windows XP will load most of the drivers you need automatically.
For the drivers that are specific to your HP pavilion
you will be able to download device drivers from HP website
or, request a driver CD

When XP is installed [assuming you or someone can do that]
you can:
Go to the 'My Computer' icon [right-click]
Choose:
  • 'Properties'
  • Then Choose 'Hardware'
  • Finally, choose 'Device Manager'
Here you will have a list of all your hardware
If you have any drivers that need to be installed, there should be
a yellow (?) question mark by the name of the hardware

Most devices/hardware will be handled by XP SP2
The default drivers will be loaded automatically
For example, your keyboard:

e83fe6a.jpg

Above you see the window that opens if I double-click on
the 'Keyboard' icon.

For XP to function, you only have to worry about the ones
with the yellow (?) question mark

Or, if you want to add a specific driver, like a Video or Sound driver, but you don't see a yellow (?) question mark
you can still install/update the driver at the 'driver' tab
[second tab in the picture above]

If you need more specific help I can do that too
