Can you please elaborate? What disc are you talking about, the make/model of your tv and any additional info that can help me suggest you a proper solution.

No you cannot record on a DVD. You can use all kinds of USB devices. If you want to use a memory stick then you should put it in a USB card reader and then plug it into the tv.You just have to connect it and record. You do not have to always format it unless the filesystem is raw. As or ormatting it ,I strongly recommend that you format it on a comouter using FAT32 file system and then use it in your tv as this filesystem will be a lot more reliable . To do this connect the USB drive to a computer. When it shows up as a removable drive, right-click on it and click format. Check the box called quick format and then choose FAT32 from the dropdown list next to filesystem. Once its done just plug into your tv, tune into the program you want to record and just press the record button.

I have a Toshiba DVR620ku DVD/VCR combo. I have the Format Mode properly set to "Video mode." I put in a new, unformatted DVD-R, and the player should format the DVD, but it doesn't. I click...

My brother had the same problem. Toshiba tech support said the disc was already formatted, so the DVD MENU option would not be available. He went straight to dubbing and recorded to the disc. After recording, the DVD MENU option was then available. He thought the disc was not formatted since it was straight out of the package and he always had to format other new discs. Perhaps your disc was actually already formatted?

Cant get pre-recorded disc's to play in my recorder it comes up with the message "this disc will neither play or record" any ideas?

hello,

the reason the recorder comes up with the message "this disc wont play or record" simply is that the format of the disc is not compatible with the player.

1. check the format of the recorded disc,
2. and check the formats the recorder can play to confirm this.

take care

How do i rewrite over a disc that is full

If you are using a DVD-RW or DVD+RW, you can format the disc by performing "Format". You can format DVD-RW for either video mode recording or VR mode recording. DVD+RW can be format in order to erase all content of the disc.
You may not be able to reformat a disc that is not previously formatted by your recorder an example would be a. DVD disc formatted by PC or another recorder.
Follow these steps to re-write:
Insert a recordable disc.
1 Press [SETUP].
2 Select "DVD Menu",
then press [ENTER].
3 Then select "Format", and
press [ENTER].
4 select "Start", then
press [ENTER].
5 Confirm by selecting "Yes", then press
[ENTER].
Formatting will start.
6 Formatting is completed.
When the disc is ready for you to rewrite to "100%" is indicated.

Sony DCR DVD108 not finalizing disc, lost data

I noticed that too with my "VR" (and NOT "Video") formatted disks. I don't think you can finalize the VR ones. Instead you have to use the Sony Import tool to grab the videos. If you are like me you probably remember using the import tool with Video formatted disks BEFORE finalizing them and it takes forever to copy them. They must be finalized to view on other devices, copy using the import tool quicker, etc., but VR formatted disks seem optimized for importing (and can be edited on the camcorder directly.

Eject dvd doesn'start recording

This sometimes happens when a disk is not formatted prior to recording .. the DVD is telling you it cant record on it at the time you want because it would have to format first and then start recording so missing the times you have set .
Best thing to do is use re- recordable discs only and format prior to use then the dvd should start straight away .
If not then the set has a serious read problem and requires looking at by a qualified engineer ... Regards Vortash

Dvd-ram 4.7gb

DVD RAM discs don't need finalised, hence its not an available option.

They will play directly on other players -*** BUT*** ONLY DVD

RAM players.

Don't expect your RAM disc to play on a normal

DVD+/-RW DVD +/-R device. Its not going to happen unless the

device supports DVD RAM also. If it does, it will play your RAM

disc once you've finished recording in your own DVD RAM

recording unit. Pop it out of your unit, straight into the other, and

the jobs done.
