Dear codger19:

If your camera gives you "card locked" error messages with several cards and you KNOW that the cards are indeed not locked via the sliding lock mechanism, then your camera needs to be sent in for service as it has developed and electrical communications problem within the memory card control function.

I would first however try a hard reset by resetting your camera to the default settings, removing the battery and memory card for two minutes, and then replacing them. Retest the cards for the error message. If it still occurs then call 1-800-828-8080 for your options.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

    Dear codger19,

If the camera is giving you a busy message, remove the card before doing the reset. Extrea long busy messages are often a sign of card damage. After performing the reset, if the card no longer gives you the locked message, format it prior to attempting to use it again.

If it still has a problem at that time then you will probably need to send the unit in for service. Hope that helps ya.

    Sincerely,

    HeavyDLB

MEMORY CARD OF cannon digital IXUS 80 I5 GOT LOCK.HOW TO UNLOCK IT.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My computer is saying there are no pictures to show on the camera but in the camera itself, pictures are there. Somehow the computer just cant read the camera pictures of my digital cannon ixus 70. thanks...

hello mjrefran,
it's hard to diognisticate from distance, but i will try to help you. if you connect your cam with a cable to your pc and it recognize it and you dont see any pics, then try to remove cams driver and reinstall it. you can also check the memory card with an optional card reader directly on your pc. the problem can also be with the card itself, try reformating card but you will lose the data on it (do it at least)
feel free to contact me if something is unclear or you got questions.

My cannon powershot- says the card is locked how do i unlock it?

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Same problem with the others, the card is locked

If you've already tried the lock/unlock switch on the side of the card, then see this link for additional troubleshooting tips for this problem.

Cannon IXUS 40.Saying, Card Locked. How do you unlock it?

In case it uses the SD card, then there is a lock feature in the card. You will need to unlock the card so that it becomes read/write enabled. In lock position, it is read only, so you can read the files from it but cannot create any more files.

Most SD cards have a switch on the edge of one side of the card. Sliding it up or down will unlock or lock the card. When the card is locked, you will not be able to transfer any audio tracks. Nor will you be able to play any copy protected files. We recommend you always keep the card unlocked.
sd%20card%20lock%20slider.jpgNOTE: We have found that on some cards, if the slider is even halfway towards the lock position, the card will be locked. Make sure that the slider is all the way to the UN-locked position.

Memory card locked

Take the card out. On the left side of the card is a tiny white switch. Reverse the position.

MEMORY CARD LOCKED

Unlock it. SD cards have a little slider on the left side (face up) that locks and unlocks it.

Memory card locked

I noticed that this camera does not work well with cheaper memory cards. The only brand that works without fail is the SanDisk brand.
