I have a Cannon Power Shot SD400 and the Card Locked feature keeps coming up on the screen. How do I get rid of this???

Take the memory card out of the camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

How to unlock my memory card

On side of The SD card there is a little lever that slides up and down this is the protection lock. PUSH it all the way to the top. Sometimes when inserting it gets caught and will move just enough to have the camera consider it locked. So be careful when inserting it.

If this does not fix it try another SD card or reformat it.

Cant unlock memory card

The little slide switch may be broken inside the card. Do you have another card to try in the camera? If another card does work in the camera, then it's time to buy a new card. They're inexpensive these days anyways at about $6 for 2GB:

Cannon Power Shot A560 tells me 'card locked' how do I unlock it?

Remove the SD card. Look on its left side for a tiny slide switch. Slide it to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card and try it out.

Greetings jdep,

On your card there is a small slide on the side that will lock the card and write protect it. Slide this to the unlocked position and you should have no issues resuming picture taking or deletion.
