When I power the camera ON, a sign appears saying "CARD LOCKED". I have used my camera without this issue. How to unlock it? Any help much appreciated.

On side of The SD card there is a little lever that slides up and down this is the protection lock. PUSH it all the way to the top. Sometimes when inserting it gets caught and will move just enough to have the camera consider it locked. So be careful when inserting it.
If this does not fix it try another SD card or reformat it.

The little slide switch may be broken inside the card. Do you have another card to try in the camera? If another card does work in the camera, then it's time to buy a new card. They're inexpensive these days anyways at about $6 for 2GB:
On your card there is a small slide on the side that will lock the card and write protect it. Slide this to the unlocked position and you should have no issues resuming picture taking or deletion.
