The chassis of the receiver normally is connected to its ground, it should work, but if want to look for the missing cable please follow the color sequence at the rear connector, the ground wire is the third starting from the yellow cable, the second should be the red one, for more details about your receiver please check the user manual at: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/130/130DEH1700.PDF

The wires that you are looking for on the back of the radio is the yellow, red, and black. The yellow is for constant power, the red is for power only when the key is turned on, and the black is ground. You need all three in order for it to work.
Black ground Red accessory (keyed) Yellow memory constant power,Blue is remote,Orange is for the dimmer, green with black is Left Lear negative.and green is positive, violet black is Right Rear negative and Violet is positive, white is Left Front positive as for white with black is negative, gray black is Right Front negative and gray is positive
Unless someone cut it off there is a black wire with a spade terminal to connect to the car chassis.
