Machine off
- Switch on the machine while holding down the "menu"button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in "maintenance" mode.
- press 80
- press the "mono start" button several times until you see "purge: xxxx"
- press "2783" in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: "purge:0000"
- press the "stop" button.
- press "99" to exit the maintenance mode.

A word of advice - DO NOT PUT TRACING PAPER IN THE PRINTER

UNABLE TO CLEAN 50

Hi Good day!! try this method
- Machine off
- Switch on the machine while holding down the "menu"button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in "maintenance" mode.
- press 80
- press the "mono start" button several times until you see "purge: xxxx"
- press "2783" in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: "purge:0000"
- press "99" to exit the maintenance mode

Now you are able to print again, but actually your ink absorber box is now full with ink. Ink flooding can happen if you don't replace this ink box!

Don't forget to vote thanks!!!!

My MFC-6490CW won`t power up, black screen.

Hello,

The MFC-6490CW has a 2 year warranty and this model has not been on the market for 2 years yet so your warranty should still be good as long as you don't tel them you opened it up.

Otherwise this sounds like a main board problem.

Thanks,

Pat

Printer says "Unable to print 70"

Usually that error means the encoder strip behind the carriage assembly is out of position or very dirty. Best to remove the top cover to correct, you might also find a scrap of paper either on the extreme right or left stopping the carriage from moving properly.
