My machine has been sent away as it wouldn't dispense coffee - you could hear it grind the beans - the expert has said that the board is "gone" as it has had water on it and will cost $450 to repair!!. I have beeen advised by another source that this is a known design fault with these machines around 2 years ago - the same age as mine -The machine has been descaled everythime it flashes and wouln't have made more than 500 cups overall. Your thoughts ? Thanks Wendy

More than likley its not the board. 3 things can cause this to happen depending on whats happening.
The only way the board can get water on it is to have a leaking hose or manifold but the board could be cleaned unless its has shorted, but then you would have had smoke coming out of the machine.
1. Brew unit. To check the brew unit, push the scoop button and then any coffee button. If you get water dispensing your brew unit is good. If nothing you have a clog in the brew head and just need to clean it.
2. The grinder is grinding too fine and is backing up in the grinder passage between the grinder and the doser. Open the big knob in the bean hopper to the max (18), now turn the small knob to the minus (-). If it works, turn the big knob back down, but only when its grinding, or you will break the grinder. Turn it down to a # that is a couple larger than what you had when you had the problem.
3. There is no design flaw in these machines. Its all in the set up. If they are set up correctly they will work forever, if taken care of. I got mine in 2004 and makes between 6 and 10 cups a day.

What would cause the machine to grind the beans but not produce any coffee despite the water tank being full?

Your grinder setting might be too fine. Only adjust while the grinder is grinding -- set to a coarser grind. Have you tried the preground coffee dispenser? Again, use coarser ground coffee in case the sieve is getting clogged.

Hotpoint HCM15 - grinding but not dispensing coffee.

When my grinder does this it is usually a Hard Bean stuck in the grinding wheels. I adjust the grind setting to min and max and it normally clears.

Grinding makes a lot of scratch noise and coffee wouldn't drip. The machine says to fill the beans but container is full.

Likely a foreign object is blocking up the grinder. Remove all beans and run at coarsest grind to try to clear it, chase it through with more beans if necessary. If this does not clear it then the top burr of the grinder assembly can be removed after disassembling the machine. Mark the grinder coarseness cogs before moving them to assist reassembly. Moderately difficult procedure.

Hi. I have a miele cva4060. The grinder is working but it does not seem to be getting any beans through it and I am only getting water dispensed instead of a coffee shot! It was working fine a few days...

Hi

If you hear its 'grinding' then that's good - problem is where is the ground coffee going or supposed to go??
Check there is no build up of damp/dried coffee grinds in the pathway between grinder and brew unit - this can happen if the machine is not properly cleaned say every 3 mths or more often depending on usage - coffee 'dust' can build up.

Also suggest remove all beans from grinder, vacumn last ones out. clean all around grinder opening. Add a dozen or so beans to the grinder, turn on and try again. If the beans disappear, its grinding properly. If they don't end up in the brew unit, then the hold up is as I said in that pathway - grinder to brew unit. If you cant see an obvious blockage/build up, suggest you have a tech look at it.
Cheers

Ground coffee will not dispense

The beans are hanging up in the hopper and not falling down into the grinder...... wiggle it, give the beans a push, or go to a bean that is not so sticky....

Spidem Trevi Plus coffee is not being dispensed.

The grind chamber is blocked, remove the beans and brew unit then clean the grinds chamber, then adjust the grind 2 numbers coarser and try again.

Spidem trevi digital plus coffee machine not working as it should

it sounds like you need to go into the programing mode. in there you can set the machine so it grinds when you select coffee. at the moment it is pregrinding this is so you can make lots of coffees 1 after the other
