This solution will cost you a bit (and given the low price of some new or reconditioned all-in-ones these days, you may not think it worth it), but the user interface is better, IMHO, than the CanoScan Toolbox and, by Jeezly, the thing just WORKS. After I installed it, I unplugged my FB630U, plugged it back in again, and BOOM!, Vista said that it had installed the driver. I was so tickled, I promptly bought the more expensive version of the software, and my good ol' CanoScan is scanning again. Check out VueScan from
http://www.hamrick.com/. The unpurchased download adds watermarks, but you can at least try before you buy. Now why the hell can't Canon come up with a driver for its own scanner?
