Verify the following:
1. The cold water supply is functional
2. You have connected the cold water line to the cold water supply and the cold water supply is turned on.
3. You have plugged in the washer, selected cold, and started a load.
Additionally you should provide the following:
1. Make and model of washer
2. Is this a front load or top load?
There's no cold waterSome washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally. If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following. Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct. Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.
turn off water
disconnect fill hose from tap
examine screen inside hose end for 'muck' blockage
clean screen
reconnect hose
test washer
if no fill
replace water solenoid valve
note: cold water valve fails first, it gets most use,
if only using cold water, you can simply swap the hot and cold hoses at the tap, and swap the hot and cold electrical connectors on the solenoid valves, the hot solenoid is no the cold one and the washer can be used, cold only, for about as long as it has operated thus far..
check you have cold water present by cracking open the fill hose and see if a squirt comes out. (you may have the tap turned off by accident)
put on cold fill and listen close to the water intake. you should hear a low humming noise which is the valve energised. if not, probability is that the cold water valve is open circuit
