The print head needs deep cleaning. I remove mine and run it under hot water until the water runs clear. Dry thoroughly with paper towel and try in the printer again.
When an inkjet printer (most newer HP and Canon inkjet printer models since 2006) exhibit poor print quality, missing color(s) or image streaking, flushing the printhead with warm water for several minutes will usually resolve the issue. It is first suggested to ensure ink cartridges have plenty of ink and to perform a 'Clean Printhead' action at the printer before attempting the water flushing procedure. This procedures is applicable to individual ink tank printer models that feature a removable Printhead assembly only. HP 564 HP 920 Ink Series Printers Hot Water Printhead Flush
"It's most likely printing blank pages because the printhead (inside the printer) is severely blocked with old ink - - this can happen if the printer is left unused for a long period.Try the "Cleaning" process which is under the Maintenance tab in Printer Preferences.
If that doesn't help, execute "Deep Cleaning".
If that doesn't help either you'll have to remove the printhead (if it's removable, depends on the specific model) and soak it overnight in warm soapy water.
Let it dry thoroughly (don't use hair dryer or any form of forced heat) before putting it back."
Because there are two ways to clear the waste ink absorber full in your printer.
First, is by actual cleaning of the ink absorber pads that is seated under the ink cartridges in its home base position. Remove the waste ink from the foam / pads by a running water.
Second, is by a reset procedure..but I cannot give you the exact reset procedure because you did not mention the model of your canon printer.

First you open the thing up, there is a button on the right side. The printer, if on will center the carriage. Remove your cartridges. There is a grey lever on the right, lift it up. Between your thumb and index finger, grasp the pring head and pull it up out of there. Dont touch the contacts at the back. Run it under warm water for about 5 minutes or until the water dripping off the bottom is clear, slow running water, and dont aim it at those silvery things. Give it a shake. Put it back in there, lever down, cartridges in, and hope for the best.
