u need to have a modem that can send receive fax, then install faxing software in computer, install dell drivers then setup modem, and send recieve program, to send fax u scan n save then use fax program to use image sometimes it may scan and send at same time? read manual with program
Yes...make sure the main phone line in goes into the back and then the line out goes to your phone. If you have an answering machine you may need to turn that off for the incoming faxes. I hope this is what you was looking for and thanks for using FixYa.
Is there a dial tone if you pick up the reciever ? Can you send faxes or use the machine to make a phone call ? If you can make calls or send faxes the machine probably needs to be set to the auto recieve mode so that it automatically answers when a fax is being recieved. If no dial tone you may have a loose connection to your phone jack.
first, you can download the manual from the website at www.brother.com
but the basics, put your paper that you want to send upright in the document feeder, touch the fax button, dial the number, and your done. make sure your phone cable is wired correctly to the fax.
I have been sending and receiving faxes for over a year on my Lexmark X6100 printer. Now whenever I try to send a fax it will say it is sending the pages but then waits for a redial. After doing the same thing a second time it will print out "remote fax error"
Remote fax error means there is something wrong on the receiving end, not with your fax.
It could be that it can't negotiate the handshake with your machine (that static noise it makes when it first connects).
Or it's not set to a receive mode.
Have you tried just calling the remote fax with your phone to see if you can hear that it is in a recieve mode (you'll get the static) or that it's not going to an answering machine by mistake (a common problem)
Just found your post and I'm having the same problem. Everything else seems to be working correctly. I can copy, scan, print and I THINK I can send a fax correctly, I should have called the person and made sure it arrived. However, I cannot receive faxes. I have an answering machine on the line, but it is not plugged into the Kodak Pinter, it is in another room. The answering machine answered the call, the FAX noise came across, but the Kodak Printer never picked it up and printed out the fax. I think I have all the settings correct, but the instructions are not very clear. Do you think I HAVE to have the answering machine plugged into the Kodak Printer? That doesn't make sense, but I might try it.
