There is a memory IC, a very small one having 8 solder leggs, that stores the channel conditions and all other details of picutre, such color, contrsat, brightness, sharpness etc;. Eventhough it small in size, the function with it when the TV works is great. If this IC ahs got damaged, no memory function will be there. From this memory IC, all data are retrived to the main system IC when we switch ON the set after a switch OFF.
When we switch OFF the set, all data at that time, will passed to this memory IC and will be store there. This is a non-volatile type IC [that is even the power to it is switeched OFF, the data stored in it won't lost. And when power comes, the data stored will be retained from it and passes to the main system control IC to process. I think that I've made an idea to you, about how this IC works and how its damage result in working of the TV.
This IC can be located very near to the system control IC, direltly soldered to the circuit board. You have to replace it with same type and number. Insist on same type and number [the number will be printed on it], as this is a very critical component. Won't cost more thatn $4. It can be purchased from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town.
I think that I've made the problem to your Tv somewhat clear to you.

You haven't specified anything about your TVs sound condition. If the sound is there and only the picture is out, leaving a white screen behind, it is due to the R-G-B output section of your TV. The section mentioned above comes on the picture tube base card, a circuit board connected on the neck of the picture tube, directly pluged onto it, with the help of a socket called picture tube base socket. You just measure the voltage to it first. The main voltage comes to it from the secondary voltage winding from the line output transformer, [LOT], generally, or from the SMPS power supply itself. It will come upto 260VDC, and must be there. If this voltage is missing, the fault you mentioned will occur. If this voltage is there, the fault may be due to a decective video output section. It may be built in with transistors, or an integrated circuit [IC].
Usually, Samsung uses Philips IC, number [TDA 6007B], or its equivalent in this stage. Check for any loose, or bad soldering on the terminals of this IC. I advice you to resolder all the pins of this Ic, by applying a little more soder, without making any short circuit bridges in between them. zin most cases, this will solve the problem. If it doesn't help, replace the IC with an identical in type and number.

your replacing the ic? what ic? what seems to be the problem of the t.v? and why do you want to calibrate the convergence?

Need to check an av switching ic. Make sure you got the 12v going to the ic, if missing troublle shoot power supply. If it is there, bad ic. Or if it is low, unsolder vcc pin and check for right voltage to see if the ic is bringing down the voltage.

First go to menu make sure audio is not turned off CK speaker . then audio output IC.

On the remote, pres the Picture-In-Picture button (3rd down on the right hand side) for about 5 seconds, and the TV will return
