You can only play PS2 games on your PS3 if it is backwords compatible, and the easy way to find out is to see how many USB Ports are in front of the console. If you have 2 USB Ports, no go. If you have 4 USB Ports in front, it is backwords compatiable. Another easy way to find out is if you own a fat PS3 with 4USB Ports you are good to go, just pop the CD in and it will play. If you own a slim PS3, you are out of luck, when Sony intoduced the slim ps3, to save money, they removed the backwords compatible chip from the hardware inside.
Hello,
the Slim version bring some technical improvements, but the overall game quality is pretty the same.
The Slim is smaller and lighter (about 1/4 of the size of its phatty predecessor) in fact. It also has greatly enhanced online gaming capabilities due to the presence of a new Ethernet port, network connection, and phone line.
Hope this helps,
good luck,
Peter
when you get you ps2 it should have come with network cd maybe you have a friend who has the newer version of the ps2 miy slim came with it an i believe i had a friend who had the cd when he bought a harddrive for his ps2 original
Yes this port be changed out on a slim like the fatter PS2 version it is a complicated work and should be done by an expert technician only otherwise the tracks on motherboard will be spoiled. One thing be sure before changing the port you check it if this port is physically damaged then only you can proceed otherwise you please compare the working voltages on all pins with your port 2 and sort out the fault because sometimes +5v supply missing or any diodes connected on port is short which can be the reason for this fault.
I believe the SCPH-version 30000 through 50001 use the UBD ports for Playstation Specific Devices like the eyetoy. The Slim PS2 has is more diversified and can read USB devices just like a computer. To get details on your PS2, you can get detailed instructions at www.playstation.com. sign up and go to Support for your older version PS2 and read up on connecting to the USB port. You may find out how to actually do it. I have not tried my self. I wish I could help more.
