I can not get the Sony PS3 to boot? - Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

I would suggest:
1) With PS3 off 2) Remove drive 3) Turn PS3 on 4) Let it complain about missing drive 5) Turn off PS3 6) Put drive back in 7) Turn on
If it still complains, try safe boot recovery mode again, choosing option 3, then again with option 4 -- If it still doesn't work, it's not looking good, bit hopefully those should sort it unless the drive really is kaput.

It's a hardware failure, usually caused by overheating.

You check out this website for some tips, but in most cases you'll have to send it into Sony for repair.

If you have another PS3 that's similar you can try swapping the power supply unit but you'll need a special T10 Hex screwdriver with a security hole to open the console.

There's not much you can do yourself. You can try booting the PS3 with the hard drive out but it's rarely the problem / solution.

I'd recommend contacting Sony direct for repair.

might have to reset the ps3

do a factory reset you will lose all the saved games

hard drive could be failing.

you might have to send it back to sony for replacement

call them to see if your console is under warrantee.

this is a little something i picked up a while ago turn on the ps3 wait for boot up if possible as far as the boot will go
if dont boot up theres a thing called a cold boot
pull plug while on or connect to surge protector with on off switch the cold boot should reset last best boot up

Same prob, returned MoH ,got a new one, will not boot up?,blank screen?, Have 2 ps3's but not willing to try the other because of posts saying Moh is bricking ps3's?? someone help!!

The same thing happened today to mine so i rang sony. They said because i bought my ps3 when it came out as a good will gesture their sending a courier out to me to exchange it (In 2 days). Man I love Sony don't know about you guys. LOL.

This is an issue Sony is aware of and is posting updates to the linux program. However here is a step you can do right now. Updating your PS3 to the latest firmware is recommended before proceeding To force the PS3 to boot up normally hold down the Power button for about 5 seconds or more at power on. This is in case you do not have a keyboard. with a keyboard you can use boot-game-os command to reboot to the PS3 game os: If you have the media cd attempt this also Select Settings -> System Settings -> Format Drive. Note that you will loose any saved game info. Create two partitions one for the PS3s normal use and one for openSUSE. Insert the media in the PS3 Select Settings -> System Settings -> Install Other OS. The PS3 will display the installers it can find. Click OK to start the installer. Follow the instructions of the Sony installer. To boot into the Other OS, select Settings > System Settings > Default System > Other OS. This causes the 'Other OS Boot loader' to be loaded on every boot. .
