My printer do want to work with my computer it lexmark x1270

I suggest not to plug the Lexmark X1270 printer to your computer yet. If you have the installation cd, insert it in your computer and install the software. First, Vista has it's own drivers and will assign it's own to your printer when you plug it in. This method will not work with many external devices. Completely disconnect the printer. Then install the lexmark driver. A window will pop up saying that the software being loaded is not approved by windows. Click install anyway. The software will instruct you when it is ok to connect the printer. You may have to go into the printer and faxes (control panel) and delete the current default printer.
