Rwhite97, If your pc is working fine with substitute monitor, and w1907 lcd unit does same (black screen, or blanknblack screen) when connected to a "known good" pc, then you should visit and read some stuff at this 2005 blog. http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Then learn the flashlight test and what it means. Then go to YOUTUBE for video clips on lcd monitor disassembly and lcd monitor repair if you are into do-it-yourself repair. Remember this!!! Your w1907 unit uses the same basic design and operation principles that ALL brands of ccfl back-lit lcd monitors use. Good luck with the repair. Come back here and leave comment after doing your research/investigation and then rate this response. 12fixlouie

SOURCE: Monitor goes blank. Shut monitor down and restart

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

SOURCE: Monitor comes on and displays small box of monitor

It does the same when attached to another PC? It can be bad caps, lamp assemblies, etc.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:

Recently when I boot up my computer I get the monitor to display an image for about 2 seconds and then it goes to a black screen. if I unplug the monitor from the back of the computer and plug it back in,...

The capacitors for the power source are failing. This causes a short burst of power to get to the lamps, but then they cannot hold a charge to continuously power the lamps. You will have to replace the monitor. I suggest checking your warranty status and replacing the monitor.

Screen going blank on system boot and on switch off/on

Hello,

It is the picture picture board on your monitor that is malfunctioning, since the power led or button is on, but the display screen goes blank after a fraction of seconds, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity or any service center to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Monitor is blank/black

It is probably the inverter board inside the monitor.
(if the screen does properly display ever then it is not the screen)
It CAN be fixed but I do not suggest anyone open up a monitor (LCD or CRT)
who is not "technically inclined." If you really want to fix this
particular one then take it to a local tech and get an estimate first. If it's almost as much as a new monitor then buy a new one.

Display not working properly

You should be able to plug in an external (Desktop type) monitor . Look for a connector on the side or back of the laptop. If the external monitor works, you have pretty much diagnosed that you have a LCD problem.
