Display not working properly

When I first turn on the Dell Latitude D600 it starts out with the DELL boot screen and has a status bar. Before the status bar completes the screen goes blank...well not completely. If I angle it just right or put it in the light just right I can bearly make out what is displayed on the screen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the vedio driver, but that didn't work. I want to try switching out the screen, but I don't have another Dell Latitude D600 to take parts from. I would greatly appreciate any opinions or suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Thank you,
AlconsNovember

You should be able to plug in an external (Desktop type) monitor . Look for a connector on the side or back of the laptop. If the external monitor works, you have pretty much diagnosed that you have a LCD problem.

Dell D600 Battery Causes Screen to go Black

Laptop batteries normally just last for a few years, depending on usage. If your battery is almost done, it may report a 'full' status, but just have the capacity to feed your laptop for a few minutes.

You may check this by disconnecting current while your laptop is started up. If low battery capacity is the cause, the same will happen within a few minutes.

Laptops normally go in standby on low battery, to avoid data loss.

Dell Latitude D600 won't go past the Dell startup screen

Tap the f7 or f8 key, when you turn it on, it should go into safe mode, Go into start programs, accesories, tools, and restore, select restore, select a date closest to today and let it go through the restore pocess, if it suceeds and starts up, rub a good virus program right away, it sounds like you picked up a virus or trojen, just be patient and it shoul be ok, if it won't go into safe mode, let me know, that will require more work. And before you do anything, unplug, remove the battery for a few minutes and replace, try it and if it still won't run, do the above, thanks ,GYM
