My ps3 turns on but all i have is a blue screen with white wavey lines and it wont let me turn it off by the main buutton

The "white line" at the top of the screen is usually associated with "VBI Information" - the stuff that carries closed captioning, etc. This is usually only visible on upconverted SD material on HD channels and is usually the fault of the affiliate not doing the upconversion properly.

It sounds like the system software has become corrupted. If you dont mind losing your save games and all other data you could try a PS3 full restore. Turn the PS3 onto standby (red light on). Press and hold the power button until it turns itself back off. Press and hold the power button again until you hear 2 quick beeps together then let go. The PS3 will boot into the recovery menu. Choose option 5 "Restore PS3 system". Let it do its thing and hopefully that will solve your startup problem.

go into safe mode and restore factory settings first then if that dont work go back and choice restore system files. seems like your just have something corrupted and can be fixed.

Most likely your hard drive has failed. This is one of many signs. Replace your hard drive with one similar or even with a larger capacity. I recommend 120GB 5400RPM Seagate or Western Digital. Thanks and good luck!

Sounds like a problem with the network adapter if its not able to detect your network as long as your network is working with your computer.

Alright you need to put your ps3 in what is called "safe mode". First make sure there is no disc in the ps3, then turn off the ps3 in the back(main power switch), turn that switch back on, then hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 3 beeps, then let go, the light will be red, hold the power button again and you will hear 2 beep then a quick double beep, let go of power button and the light should stay green. A menu will appear, try all option working your way up from option 1 until it works. If you go through all 6 option and you are still having issues call 1-800-345-7669 to have your ps3 serviced

you probably over used or you might have had to much things going at once .so you may have blown a circuit.

it looks like your system may be corrupt try hard resetting your system turn off the power in the back of the ps3. Turn it on while holding down the I/O utton until it beeps 3 times

Check the main filter cap and B+ line.
