What make and model number is this? There should be two screws inside and then a clip that holds it on plus it is attached to the water line in the back.
The model # is ED5PHAXST01. I unscrewed the two screws but that didn't do anything. Can you tell me more about the clip?
Sorry, it's a whirlpool refrigerator.
Yes, the parts do come apart and can be dismantled,
Where can I go to see the parts larger?
You can go to partselect . com
Then just enter your model number.

Hi,
My ice dispenser lever stopped working. I took the face plate off by
first removing the tray, grabbing the bottom face plate and pulling
straight back. I found that the internal switch was displaced because
the retention pins (plastic) were broken. This caused the switch to be
set back from the dispenser arm. I'm ordering a new bracket that holds
the switches. Hope this helps.

Instead, I replaced the pins with screws.... never coming apart again.
Now how long before the Ice side breaks?!?!?!?!
I had this same problem.
Whirlpool Side-by-Side Model#: ED20DFXEB01
I removed the front panel from the water/ice dispenser - just to make
sure the problem was not with any of the connections there. Just put a
meter on the wires to verify current. All was good.
I pulled the refrigerator out and removed the valve assembly for the
water/ice dispenser. Since the ice was working and the water was not, I
simply swapped the connections on the solenoids. Sure enough, when I
pressed the switch to dispense water, it came through the ice maker.
Answer: bad solenoid on the water side...
I happen to live close to a commercial appliance store so I took the
valve assembly (along with the model number for the fridge) over there
and ordered a new one. $50 and 24hrs later, I'm good to go. In my case
the part I needed was part# D7742204 (technically an Amana part but was
the exact same thing) and it's a very easy part to swap out on my own.
If you are still curious as to how to remove the face plate... There are
2 small slots on the bottom of the faceplate. Pry out on those and the
plate slides up and off from there.
How to Fix a Refrigerator Water
Dispenser
Things You'll Need:
Insert a glass into the water dispenser as if you wanted to get some
Hairdryer.
water. Can you hear the pump running when you press the paddle with the
glass? If so, that is a good sign. That means the electrical and
mechanical parts are working. The problem is most likely a blockage
somewhere in the system.
Check the water filter. It is usually located in the back of the
refrigerator under a plastic cap that screws off. You may want to move
objects in the refrigerator away from where the filter is, because a
little water might spill out when you take off the cap. Pull the filter
out with your hand and examine it. Does it look dirty or contaminated?
Has it been along time since you last changed it? If so, you might
want to try replacing the filter with a new one. If a filter is dirty
enough, it could prevent water from passing through. In such a case,
you would likely have noticed a gradual drop in the output of water
before it stopped completely. If this is not the problem, continue to
the next step.
Get a hairdryer and plug it into an outlet that is close enough to allow
you to use it inside the refrigerator.
Open the door and locate the area directly behind the water dispenser.
You may need to remove some items from the surrounding shelves. Very
often, the problem is that the water in the lines in the door have
frozen solid. This is especially likely if you have been away for a few
days in the winter, and you turned down the heat. The combination of the
lower temperature, and the fact the the dispenser is not being used,
can cause the lines to freeze up.
Turn on the hairdryer and set it to medium heat. Slowly wave it back and
forth around the back of the door behind the dispenser. Then do the
same around the front of the dispenser. Continue alternating between the
front and back of the door for 15-20 minutes, and periodically try the
dispenser to see if it starts working again. If you have no luck after
half an hour, then the plug of ice might be deeper in the system. Go on
to the next step.
Ask a couple of neighbors, or friends who live nearby, if they would let
you store your perishables in their refrigerators and freezers. Once
the refrigerator and freezer are empty, unplug it, and let it sit, with
the doors open for 24 hours. Then plug it back in and try the dispenser
again. It should work by now. If it still does not work, then the clog
is not ice. You will have to call a repairman to purge the lines, or to
otherwise solve the problem.
Take care.
Hi, would advice you to call the customer service for assistance.

Usually answered in minutes!
Neither the ice maker nor the water dispenser are working. No sound when I push a glass in. A spoon is totally lodged into the area where the ice should come through the front. It won't budge. The only part of the spoon I can see is the top. The entire handle is going down into the shoot. I can't even take the ice bucket out of the freezer section. It's totally stuck.
you aren't getting it!!!!!!! A spoon is STUCK in the ice dispenser and it won't BUDGE!!!!!! Is there a way to dismantle the area where the ice drops into the dispenser so I can try to get the spoon OUT??????
