I would suggest that you uninstall the software drivers ( if they are listed in CONTROL PANEL), turn off computer, take out the sound card, and turn computer on, let it do its thing. Turn off the computer & reinstall the sound card. What should happen is that Windows will "see" and try to reinstall the software drivers. If u have the CD_sound drivers, then use cd to REinstall. If that don't work your sound card could be damaged [I hope not!] The reason why u do it that way is that u have to let windows_registry get the 'gooks' out of her.
It happens...
Reinstall the sound card driver ... and it ll be fine again
THe driver must be there in *********** board CD that came along with the computer.

If you have the disk that came with the Acer then put that in and find the driver folder in the drivers folder or go and download DriverUpdate if you have not already did an update from your Control Panel "Check your update in control panel were it says Windows update.even if there are already updates there check for updates again just to make sure there are not any more to add on to...Hope this works thanks..
find out what kind you have ( should be within your documentation, if you have none, go to google.com and search
"Acer aspire 3624wxci specifications " ( without the quotes) it will take some time but you will find it. then when you do, look for the DVD drive that's installed and google that.
DO NOT download from sites that you are not familiar with god knows what else you will get besides the drivers.
or you can simply go to acer.com in the search in the top right corner type in your system info (Acer aspire 3624wxci or just 3624wxci) and see what downloads are available.
Please tell us what operating system you are using Windows xp, windows Vista, Windows 7...etc
Try installing the latest audio driver.
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure youselect the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers youthat require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on yourlaptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: - http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx

in device manager highlight network adapters and go to action and scan for hardware changes if that doesn't work i would back everything up and reistall windows.and if that still doesn't work i would have to say it is a device failure.
