I am one of the lead technicians at VideoOneRepair.com. We are a repair shop that specializes in only Sony and Canon Prosumer camcorders.

The problem that you are experiencing with your Sony VX2100 camcorder is a common complaint on this model camcorder. It is not a defect with the camcorder, it is simply the most common complaint when the mechanically assembly is not running smoothly and perfectly. There are parts of the mechanically assembly that over a period of time wear and also possibly defective parts that can cause this problem. It will usually start off as audio dropout and then progressively get worse until you also have video dropout as well. The average repair cost for this repair is usually between $250 and $450 parts and labor. This also includes cleaning and servicing.

We also offer a 6 month guarantee on the entire camcorder, not just what it was sent in for. The estimate and the return shipping
are free even if you do not have the camcorder repaired. Please feel free to call, email or post any questions you have and I would be happy to respond.

Sincerely,
Sheryl Bahr

My sony dcr-vx2100 has a problem. while recording the camera will display cassette cleaning yellow icon. this messes up recording process. what should I do?

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

How is the time/date stamp displayed on a copy

The time/date is 'stamped' onto the video during recording. The time/date stamp function can be turned on or off in the setup menu. If it was 'on' during recording, it will be displayed when played back. If it was turned off, it will not be seen on the recording.

Recording onto a mini dv tape from Mac computer Via firewire

I have successfully recorded to a mini Dv tape from my computer however I connected my PC to the VX2100 using the RCA inputs. I have an adapter that I purchased from best buy that provides the RCA input/output. If your able to connect that make sure to...

1. Turn you VX2100 to Play/Edit mode (not camera mode)
2. Insure the program on your mac has an external output otherwise you won't be able to record.
3. See if your video editing software (if your using one) has an option for record to tape or to camera. I use Vegas Studio and it has an option for that.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hi, I have the Sony Handycam DCR-VX2100 and having trouble with the screen. The screen is constantly blue and when you record it turns black, but will only record audio is there any way i can fix it or...

If you are able to access the menu and see that on your screen, the go into the LCD settings to adjust the levels. If that doesn't work you may need to reset your camera to see if that fixes the problem. Look at your manual for proper instructions.

If the problem still persists then I'd send it in for repair.

Sony dcr-dvd105 no sound

Try this:
Play back a recently recorded scene through the viewing screen. Make sure any "mute" setting is turned off and turn the volume up. If you can hear the sound, the problem is not in the camera. Also, run through your menu's audio settings to make sure that they are set correctly.
If you can't hear any sound, repeat the process with an external mike attached. If this gives you sound, the camera's built in mike is defective. Time to hand it in for repair.
If you still can't hear any sound, something else is wrong with the camera. Again, send it in for repair.

I am having audio issues with my Sony DCR-TVR900 NTSC Camcorder

If the problem is no audio recorded from the internal microphone, then it has likely failed. See http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/trouble/micfix/index.html for a simple repair procedure you can do yourself.
