Make sure u don't have the tv set to the video output that the game does not support...with that said u could try this.. under settings>display setting>video output setting> if u have it connected with an hdmi (i'll go with this one) click on hdmi and choose custom. on the next screen u can try selecting the video output that u want to play it in... the 480p choice will always be highligted. hope this helps

SOURCE: some games show that

You should try resetting your video settings.

To do this, turn off your PS3. Then press the power button to turn it back on again, but hold it for a few seconds. The console should beep, at which point you can release the power button.

Then you can re-setup your Display settings (navigate to XMB (main menu) > Settings > Display Settings > Video Output Settings). Choose whichever settings are compatible with your TV/Projector. (if using HDMI, you should probably always use Automatic; it knows what it's doing most of the time).

For a more in-depth explanation, the Sony PS3 website has a pretty good guide found here.

Good luck!

I've found confirmation that this problem will be fixed by buying an HD TV. http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/07/ps3-is-region-free-but-theres-a-hi-def-catch/

PS3 unable to load certain games

Hi!

You said that you did not received a manual so this link might be of great help to you:

Regarding your problem, check your video output settings. If you have a HD tv make sure its set to the right output.

Have fun!

Some gmes won't play.

Ok. Do you have a NTSC system?

Some PAL games will only run on standard and some will only run in HD and some will run on both if the PS3 is NTSC. The PAL games output at (576i/p) while the NTSC outputs at (480i/p). So honestly, I think that is your problem. You have a NTSC system and PAL games. If you do not have a HDTV then you will need to exchange those games for the NTSC version. Sorry for the bad news. It's not Sony's fault, it's how the game developers coded the games.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
