They will remain locked for a while on some models. If this just happened, wait an hour or so after it is off and try again. Good luck.

Is the oven self cleaning and if so how does it work?

if its self cleanin it will say right on it "self cleaning"

self cleaning ovens do exactly that they clean themselves no harsh chemicals (oven cleaner foam) are needed to dissolve the baked on cooking goo that builds up inside ovens , although if one uses a foil liner in bottom then one might never need to self clean it , but some models cant use liners due to convection fans air flow getting in the way ,
self cleaning ovens have the ability to get very hot (500 degrees plus) no one should ever open a oven in cleaning cycle as this hi temp can spontaneously combust to ashes your hair/clothing never the less burn the hand that opened it severely(most lock the door for safety) all that needs done after cycle, is ashes need wiped out with damp towel next day after cleaning cycle is done and oven cooled off completely , im waiting on the day they make one that sweeps its self out into the dust bin ,(not yet )

Oven cleanining keeps coming on

This sound like faulty control module(s). I have seen horror stories of these causing fires! Google on line with your make and model number as there may be a safety recall. Otherwise make and model number will be required to help you.

After self cleanin our GE jkp90 oven we get an F9 code when we cook above approx 450 degrees. Once it gets to temperature the F9 comes on the display, locked flashes, and the oven shuts off. Sometimes...

sounds like you have a bad interface or control unit ... being a g.e oem authorized service tech for the last 18 years we see this alot... the self cleans should be removed on these things... it literally gets the units to hot and starts melting and destroys the components on these things... the control board will actually come with a new door latch mechanism as well and that normally is the culprit.... the thermostat is connected to the erc ( erc being the control board) and when the unit says it is high temp the erc faults you need a new control board assembly.... god luck

I accidently put the lock on my oven. Now the lock will not come off. Please help

Hi

The oven door and controls can be locked to avoid unintended use of the oven. The oven doors and controls cannot be locked if the oven is in use, or the oven temperature is 400°F (205°C) or above.

To lock the control panel and both oven doors:

  1. Press and release Cancel.
  2. Press and hold upper oven Cancel and Cook & Hold for 3 seconds. “Off” appears in the display and “Lock” flashes while the controls and oven doors lock. Both oven doors lock. “Lock” remains lit in the display.
To unlock the control panel and both oven doors:

Press and hold upper oven Cancel and Cook & Hold for 3 seconds. “Off” disappears from the display and “Lock” flashes while the controls and oven doors unlock.

Please see this link for more information as how to disengage the lock on your Jenn Air Oven---

Oven Door Locked

the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism.
