If the bottom agitates and not the top, the problem is likely the 4 "agitator dogs" designed to allow the top agitator to turn only one way.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.29852991&pathTaken=partSearch

and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Look at the section on the Sears site for Agitator, basket and tub.

See the part "Dog, agitator "

Remove the fabric softener unit, lift the top agitator cap (use a screwdriver) and you should see a plastic part in the center of the top agitator with a 1/2" square drive.

Remove the drive and lift off the top agitator. Turning it over you should see the 4 "dogs", replace these and the top agitator should turn in one direction only.

Replace the 1/2" drive, the cap and fabric softener unit and the top agitator should work.

Also see the following illustrated description of the above.

SOURCE: modle 110 29852991 will not empty the water to go

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.29852991&pathTaken=partSearch

and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Newer model Whirlpool / Kenmore washers use a Lid Switch as a safety device. Unless the switch senses that the lid on the washer is closed, the washer will neither agitate nor spin.

Older models only used the switch during the spin cycle.

Try to bypass the Lid Switch by removing the Console and jumping the two outermost pins on the switch.

This is a Whirlpool PDF on how these washers operate. It has a diagram on jumping the switch as well as a detailed section on how the transmission works.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

It also has a troubleshooting guide.

To bypass the switch, you only have to disconnect the power to the washer, tilt the console back, unplug the switch and using an short piece of insulated wire, jump the two outermost contacts on the connector coming from the console and plug the washer back in.

Following is a description of how to gain access to the console and how to remove the cabinet if necessary.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=131&osCsid=913ba652cd504fb162f87d892bcb427b

With the jumper in place, try to re-start the washer.

If it works, the Lid Switch is a relatively inexpensive part and only requires you to access the console and remove the cabinet.

I have a Samsung Plasma TV, Model PS51E6500ES, Type #PS51E6500. The top half of the screen stays black but periodically turns on.

I'd try cleaning the pins going into and out of the top buffer board, if that doesn't fix it, I didn't look up the model but if it has a top and bottom board reverse them and see if the bottom half goes black, if nothing changes it's the y sustain board that's bad

Why does my thread keep shredding and breaking

tension on both, bobin as well top is much too great. you did not mentioned if bottom or top is shredding, as bottom is rare i assume that it is top.

as you did count on telepathy (do not work very well for me...) and did not provide brand and model of teh machine, therefore only very general advice can be given - for future references - we do not know what machine you do own or use... we do not work for cia... or fbi... or any other member of the alphabet soup... :-)

1. remove bobin and turn tension screw 1/8 turn anticlockwise
2. release top knob pressure about half turn, try to sew straight line again through double folded linen - still shredding? is thread in the middle (between folded fabric that is?) top? bottom?

if at top - release another half turn top knob (anticlockwise), check again repeat if necessary

if at bottom - you need to increase top pressure - therefore turn knob half turn clockwise

you need to experiment till you have perfect knot in the middle, this will meant that you did setup your machine correctly

I have a Sony FD Trinitron 27' Model # KV-27FV310. It is approx 8 years old. After turning it on and watching a full screen for a few minutes; all of a sudden, a line came across half the screen;

top half missing is in vertical circuit of set---if it is a 27 inch and this old consider retiring it and replacing----other option is consider having a shop repair it--a rough guess would be as high as 150 dollars parts and labor is possible for your problems.

My JVC model AV-20F476 has a black-out box that covers most of the bottom half of the screen.

Go into menu and under CLOSED CAPTIONS look to see if TEXT is engaged---if it is set to text 1 turn it off or to text 2,3,4, etc

Text was a feature never really used but it is there, some cable boxes also have this setting/feature.

Let me know if you have questions.

The auto print head alignment prints ok. The Nozzle check from top to bottom prints as follows: 3eBK ok; 6C top half light blue - bottom half darker blue; 6C ok; 6M top half light pink - bottom half darker...

It sounds like your black (K) or Black/Yellow (KY) head needs to be replaced.
The problem appears to be in the top half of the black head.
Without knowing more (like what make/model the printer is) I can't help more than that.

Top half of agitator turns free (does not agitate)

You will need a set of agitator dogs. Pull off your agitator cap and look under it, you will see 4(four)small tabs that catch and release the top 1/2 of the agitator.

Good Luck!

Removing Agitator from Kenmore Model 110 Top Loader

How to replace Whirlpool/Kenmore washer
dual action agitator ratchet ‘dogs’, kit # 285770
Tools needed: Screwdriver, 3/8" drive ratchet wrench, 7/16" socket (older models), 3/8" drive to 1/2" adapter (newer models), long 3/8" drive extension, small amt liquid detergent
1) Pry the agitator cap off by inserting a screwdriver into the cap’s notch
2) Pull the inner cap (if present) off – most Whirlpool machines use this inner cap, with a handle, to gain access to the center bolt
3) Remove the bolt in the center of the agitator
(Earlier models used a 7/16" hex-head steel bolt)
(Recent models use a 1/2" square drive plastic nut – use a 3/8" X 1/2" ratchet adapter)

4) On older models, grasp the bottom portion of the agitator and pull the entire ***’y off.
(Recent models allow just the top portion’s removal to access these ‘dogs’)
5) Older models – place the agitator on the floor, and, standing carefully on the bottom portion, pull the top half off. Turn it over, and the dogs will be accessible for replacement.
6) Newer model dogs can be replaced once the ratchet ***’y is removed. There are several versions currently in use, but most can be replaced without removing the bottom agitator half. All‘4-dog’versions use the 285770 kit, regardless of the cam ***’y style. (Older agitators, rarely seen now, used a pair of 2 larger dogs, which are a different part number)
7) On older versions, be careful to align the two tabs when inserting the upper ***’y back onto the agitator bottom half. When these are aligned, they will friction-fit the two halves together, making it easier to reinstall the ***’y. Handle it only by the bottom half to prevent pulling the top half off when reinstalling.
8) Lightly lubricate the agitator cap’s rubber gasket using a bit of dishwasher detergent, and push it back into place. (On the Whirlpools with an inner cap, lube that cap’s o-ring too – makes it easier to snap into place)
9) Reach around and pat yourself on the back! You just saved at least $75.00!

Model 42mf231d/17 42" plasma

If the loss of picture is either on top half or bottom half of screen. there are y buffer boards that go from top to bottom on left side of screen when looking at back that control those sections. when there is loss of half of picture then buffer associated with that area would be at fault and would need to be replaced. when i see a degrading symptom such as loss of picture on top half or bottom half leading to no picture issue normally you would check heat syncs on y sustain board and if not heating up after a few minutes of being turned on would recommend replacing y main and both y upper and lower y buffer boards as they complete a circuit
