STEP 1 – Reset the device
- Slide the Power switch up and hold it for approximately 20 seconds.
- Release the Power switch once the device is powered down.
- Turn the device back on.

Other possible solution.
Plug the unit in to the computer.
Even if it won't boot it might still recognize it as an external storage device.
If so, open My Computer and right click on the player. Select format from the menu that appears.
Select the FAT file system from the options that appear.
W A R N I N G!!!! This WILL erase all data on the device, please make sure you have a backup copy of your music and or other files BEFORE proceeding with this fix!! /W A R N I N G!!!!Now, once you have the unit formatted, download the firmware for it from the sansa website at www.sansa.com.
this is my daughters player she usually try to hook it to the home computer which runs windows xp and when she hook it up to my laptop which is windows vista premium
What mode you have your device under right now? to find the mode...go under the menu settings and click on USB mode...and it will list all the mode...
