I have an RCA Scenium DLP 50 TV. The TV started making a loud noise (like a computer fan) going out. The noise would go away when we powered off the unit and the bulb shut off. Eventually there was no...

yes ... you could have a color wheel problem.. this set get color from a spinning wheel called a color wheel.. when you unplug this and plug this back in you should hear a whining motor sound. During the "bootup" sequence this motor spins this wheel to test to see if it reaches speed. This is a motor that moves and anything that moves eventally dos not. i see this problem often in the shop and if it is the problem there not all that difficult repair. the hardest part is finding the color wheel

RCA DLP Model # M50WH74S Problem: Replaced blown lamp, when plugging it into AC, blue LED lights up right away for 2 or 3 seconds, then shuts off. Waited for a few seconds, and relay will click on and...

The blue led dies because the power source dies: it detects a big short on one of its outputs and shuts down to protect itself automatically. Since apparently it's a very big short and you just had to replace the bulb then the faulty part is the ballast board (the one that powers the bulb): when the bulb failed it has generated a power surge that fried it.
Replace the ballast and verify the power source board: if you're really unlucky when the ballast got fried it has in turn damaged the power board.

Turn on the big screen sony tv, but fades to blue

You probably have a bad BLUE CRT. Due to the cost and the length of time it would take to repair, I would not invest the money into it. It would require a Qualified Service Person to come to your home and remove the BLUE CRT assembly and send it back to SONY to be rebuilt. Estimated cost would be around 800.00. I would check prices of a replacement set.
I hope this helps,

Humm coming from speakers - can't get cable to work

The RF input is the correct one for a cable signal. The other sources use the RCA and other ports which you can connect to other devices, like DVD or VCR players.

If the humm noise only happens when you're on the TV channel then it's likely just the station. Try changing the channel and see if that helps, and make sure the coax is screwed in all the way. Also make sure the other end, if connected to a VCR or other stuff, is tightly attached. If you share cable with many other people and the signal has snow (white spots on the TV), then you may need to buy an RF signal amplifier to reduce the noise.

Source changes the input (RCA versus coaxial versus component inputs), change the channel for different channels..
