I have a Panasonic kx-tgf570 cordless set (brand new). I'd like to assign different ring tones to different contacts. How do I do that?

The base unit is the KX-TGF570. The cordless phone system was sold as the KX-TGF572. Currently, you can find the manual at Panasonic here: http://help.panasonic.ca/viewing/ALL/KX-TGF572/OI/TGF572_PNQX8348YA/TGF572_PNQX8348YA.pdf .

Assign the contact to a group. You can then set a different ringer tone for the group. Start with the phone system in standby. To change the ringer tone for a group, press Phone Book on a handset. Select Menu. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to highlight a group, press Select. Navigate to Current Group Ringer Tone and press Select. Use the arrow keys to highlight a new Group Ringer Tone and press the soft key for Save. (See page 38 of the manual). To ad a contact to a group, you need to edit that contact. Press the phone book button and select Menu. Select a contact and press Select. Edit the contact name and number and press OK after each edit if needed. Otherwise press OK twice. Use the Up/Down arrows to select a group. Press Select twice to confirm the change. Press Off when done. (See page 39 of the manual.)

I hope this helps.

How do I set up speed dialing on my HP Officejet 5740

While "Speed Dialing" or "Speed Dial" is listed in its fax specifications on some sites, it appears to be a mislabeled categorization of its group fax feature as HP's manual makes no other mention of it--save to say, the "fax to multiple numbers" (or multiple recipients) feature. There does not appear to be a speed dial list, but there is a phone book feature for adding contacts (individual numbers) & groups. (The following is detailed in a more explanatory way on pages 65-66 of the user's manual (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-5740-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/6617253/model/6617254/manuals?cc=us&lang=en).

1. From the printer control display, touch Fax.
2. Touch Send Now.
3. Touch the telephone symbol to access its phone book feature.
4. Touch the person symbol for a phone book contact; or touch the multiple person symbol for a group of phone book contacts.
(Note: Contacts should be established before any of these could be added to any group.)
5. Touch + (plus sign) to add a contact/group; or touch the gear symbol (edit) to edit/delete a contact/group.
6. Touch Name.
7. Changes to contacts/groups:
•Adding a contact/group: type the name, & then touch Done.
••Adding a fax number to a contact: Touch Fax Number, enter this contact's fax number, & touch "Create".
••Adding a contact to a group: Touch Number of Members, select all of the contacts to add to this group from this printer's phone book, & touch Select followed by touching "Create".

•Editing: Select the contact/group name, & then touch Done. Then...
••Editing a Contact: touch Fax Number, enter the fax number, & touch Done.
••Editing a Group: touch Number of Members & deselect the contacts to remove from this group or touch + (plus sign) to add contacts to this group. Then touch Done.

•Deleting a contact/group: Select the name, & then touch Delete followed by touching Yes.

How do I send one fax to multiple receipents?

you need to set up a group to send to. So if the group is always changing this may not help much.

Groups allow you to send the same fax message to multiple numbers (broadcasting). You can store the Groups on your One-Touch keys or SpeedDial locations and then broadcast by pressing a One-Touch key and Fax Start or by pressing Search/Speed Dial, the three digit location and FaxStart. First, you will need to store each fax number you wish to includein your Group as either a One-Touch or Speed Dial number. Then, you can combine these numbers into a group. Finally, you can have up to six Groups, or you can assign up to 131 numbers to one large Group. Each Group uses one One-Touch key or Speed Dial location. To set up a Group, please follow these steps:

1. Press Menu, 2 (Fax), 3 (Set Auto Dial), 3 (Setup Groups).

2. Press the One-Touch key on which you wish to store the Group or pressSearch/Speed Dial followed by the three-digit Speed Dial location where you wish to store the Group. The LCD will read SETUP GROUP:G0 ENTER & SET.

How do I program group fax into my 2840 printer so I can send out media releases fast. A step by step process would be nice. Right now they go individually into speed dial but I want a group.

You already know how to program speed-dial entries, right?

1. Assign a speed-dial entry to each fax number that you want in the group

2. On the device control panel, press MENU

3. Use the < or the > button to select Fax setup, and then press ENTER

4. Press ENTER to select Phone Book

5. Use the < or the > button to select Group setup, and then press ENTER

6. Use the < or the > button to select Add/Edit group, and then press ENTER

7. Use the alphanumeric buttons to enter the number that you want to associate with this group, and then press ENTER. Selecting 1 through 5 also associates the group with the corresponding one-touch key

8. Use the alphanumeric buttons to enter a name for the group, and then press ENTER

9. Complete one of the following steps:

a) Press a one-touch key, and then press ENTER again to confirm the addition. Repeat this
step for each group member you want to add

-- -- -- -- -- OR -- -- -- -- --

b) Select Phone Book, and then select the speed-dial entry for the group member you want to add. Press ENTER to confirm the addition. Repeat this step for each group member you want to add

10. When you are finished, press ENTER

11. If you have more group-dial entries to assign, press ENTER, and then repeat steps 1 through 10.

Group code

I believe what you want is at the bottom of this list.

If you frequently send faxes to the same group of telephone numbers, you can assign these numbers to a group.
Only Speed Dial and One Touch numbers can be assigned to a group. A maximum of 25 Group Numbers (WorkCentre Pro555) / 50 Group Numbers (WorkCentre Pro575) can be assigned (in the range 1-1999). Preset group numbers can also be used for polling.
The following information is included below:
  • Create a new group
  • Add numbers to an existing group
  • Delete numbers from an existing group
  • Delete an existing group
To print the Group Phonebook, see the Related Items below for additional information.
Create a new Group:
  1. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button on the Control Panel, then press [3], [3].

Group fax

This is an involved process. You first have to register (log in) each of the parties in the group individually as a one-touch speed dial or a coded speed dial. Then you register the group to and list each of the parties in that group.

Rather than give you a step-by-step, you can get the manual here. Wait a few seconds for the page to load. Click on the link for the manual and it will open in a separate window (pdf). Click on the save icon in the upper left corner to save the manual to your computer.

Chapter 6 in the manual gives you complete instructions for registering one-touch speed dials, coded speed dials, and group speed dials.

Adding and deleting into and out of group phone list

Group setting where? In the driver? In the menu in the machine? In some piece of software?
Are you refering to the name and phone number people see when you fax them?

Please be more specific.

Changing the name and phone number for faxing operations is covered in the owners manual. If you can't find the manual, there should be a copy on Brother's Web Site at www.brother.com
