it could be that your blu-ray lens is dirty (the easiest fix) try cleaning it with disk cleaner... or if u know how opening up ur system and cleaning the lense physically... if that didn't work it could be that ur blu-ray might be dead...
A disc read error means you will need a new Blu-ray drive. A blu-ray drive can fail to read Blu-ray but play DVD or CD OK. (Or any combination) A new blu-ray drive requires calibration. Contact Sony for the service center you can send it to. www.sony.com
It's a factory defect. I've fixed over 100 PS3's with the same exact problem. Your blu-ray laser went out. You need to contact Sony or if you're in Los Angeles you can contact me. I fix the problem for $120 and within 30 minutes. Sony charges $150+ and takes God knows how long.
The problem is all in the settings. You probably have a 1080i television that cannot display in 1080p. To fix this go to the main menu and go to:
Settings:
Video Settings
Then Blu Ray Disc and make it turn the Display BD in 1080p 24hz or whatever. Once you do that, start the Blu Ray Disc again, and you should be able to watch it. This all happened because your tv doesn't display 1080p.
Hello.
When you put in a disc, listen for the disc to start spinning. If you do not hear that then the laser and/or the spindle have blown out. You will have to get your Blu-Ray player serviced by a pro or Sony. Sony may fix it for free. They know that the drives are failing. So call them first. I hope this helps! Good luck to you.
