Tv turning on and off itself

We have the phillips 51 inch hdtv model# 51pp9100d/37 and when plugged in it turns itself on and off without stopping, no matter if you press the power button. We have to unplug to turn off totally. it will act like its coming on for approximately 8 seconds then turn off for the same amount of time. anybody ever hear of this?

I had a phillips gogear portable audio /video player that when it was plugged in to my computer charging would cause interference and the same thing happened. Maybe you have some other phillips product in the same room that is causing this.

Try "hiding" the remote from the set so that the TV cannot "see" it. Hope this little trick helps...accordianman

My 51pp9100d/37 philips TV doesn't have any sound.

This set has a "small signal board" The board is about 3x5 inches and plugs into board on far left as seen from back of set.

A lot of these fail:

low sound
no sound
intermittant sound
no remote functions
no channel up or down
etc etc

Last time I looked board was around 100 exchange rebuilt

I have an 51pp9100d/37 Phillips Tv, and i the red and green colors on the picture are skewed to a weird, almost sideways, S shape. I was wondering if this is an easy fix and cheap, i don't really know...

From what you have said it seems that you need to replace the Convergence ICs, they are Big Black ICs and will have Part number on them ,example STK392-110
Mats Electronics has Parts $9.95 each IC. 1-800-628-1118
PTS rebuilts boards 1-800-844-7871

I need the service mode sequence for my philips 51pp9100d/37 so I can manually change the resolution on my tv. The resolution somehow was changed and when I HDMI my laptop to the tv it wont display t

I suspect that you may be using a cable or sat box rather than that set's internal atsc tuner.
Sometimes these boxes are not set up properly or reset themselves to a lower resolution.
Go into your box's settings menu nd look for the resolution settings. Verify that all of the modes or at least the maximum resolution for your set is enabled.

PIP does not work

The PIP can only use one tuner at a time, if one is on CATV, the other has to be on an AV input. you would need a catv box for the AV input for this to properly function.
