I selected 1080p.the screen says out of range and now i cant change it back.

It depends on your source video resolution. If you're willing to play in 4K, you can upscale your 1080p or 720p video to 4K resolution in advance. Here is the video tutorial:
After conversion, it will be played in 4K on your TV. Of course, it's all based on that your TV supports 4K.

You have to go to Input and select and select HDMI. With the remote.

click start control panel display desktop you can select a different desktop from the drop down list
or a browse button where you can select different pictures this may vary depending on your operating system

also you can change the settings for more or less pixels or from the drop down list pick the appropriate level of color range or troubleshoot also select advanced then general dpi normal size,larger size or custom settings
always click APPLY after making any changes

you can make changes to your screen resolutions and brightness in your computers settings or if your computers monitor is separate to your computer ie:desktop it might have tabs to make some changes to its brightness and resolution

Changing the screen resolution can be tricky...
If it is a setting in your television, it can be accessed by pressing menu on your remote.
Once in the menu, there should be settings for the screen or picture. One of these will allow you to select resolutions. (consult the above manual for exact navigation of the menu)

The other thing is, sometimes televisions change automatically between resolutions based on what signal they have received. In this case, it isnt the television that is the issue, but is the device feeding it the signal, such as a cable/sat box or dvd/bluray. Make sure to check those devices to make sure they are sending the signal you require (in this case 1080p).

With more information about the device from which the signal is coming, we might be able to isolate where the problem is.

Eg. if your xbox isnt set to high resolution, or if your cable box isnt set to 1080p, your television cant possibly display at that high of a resolution.

1080 i is what you run going to higher resulution causes that your provider is 1080i or 1080p

Hey there I don't see why your playstation 3 should be doing that other than the console being defective. Sony doesn't have this problem that often and actually this is the first time i have heard of such problem. Try making sure the the HDMI cable is connected at both ends all the way in and also make sure your Samsung is a 1080P which i am pretty sure it is and finally if you have a friend or another 1080P HDTV in your house i would try and see if your ps3 will support the 1080P feature. If you still have the problem even when you use a different TV then its the ps3 that is malfunctioning otherwise it would be your Samsung. Let me know how that turns out alright.
