I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Cannot remove wrong cartridge message from epson printer

If you have tried turning it off and on again, and the problem is still there, then the printers sensors that detect the cartridge type are not getting the signal they expect from the new cartridge. The electrical contacts are probably dirty with ink. Remove the cartridge and try cleaning all the contacts you can see on it and in the printer where it was.

Epson workforce 520 won't recognise ink cartidges

When replacing ink on the Epson Workforce 520, Ensure the cartridges have the correct/same number of gold contacts. Ive seen them with 7 and 9 gold square contacts and they were otherwise identical, and the ones with 9 contacts threw an "cartridge not recognized" error on the printer's dispay.

Swith machine off
clean pins in cartridge holder with (lightly) damped lint free cloth

By the way, never mix originals with compatibles.

Epson DX7450 won't recognise compatible cartridges

This is a common problem and is caused by faulty or missing chips onthe compatible cartridges. You will need to get them replaced otherwise the printer will not operate. Contact the vendor where you bought them from and ask for repalcements or a refund.

Compatible ink cartridges dx8400

Epson cartridges are microchipped.

Do your new cartridges carry the same chip?

If not, they will not work.

If all else fails, return them to the supplier and explain they are not recognised by your printer.

My Epson Stylus C43SX does not print without the black ink

I sympathise with your frustration - we all feel it. Epson printers, by design, will only work if all cartridges are present and correct. When you change a cartridge or carry out a head clean, the ink charging and head cleaning is carried out on all cartridges. So what you are experiencing is normal, I'm sorry to say.

My advice is to buy the cheapest compatible cartridges you can get - have a look at e-bay in particular. In the UK a set for the DX4000 would cost less than 6 UK pounds, including shipping. If you are prepared to buy several sets at once you can save a lot more.

Note for future reference that your query was in the C43SX section - make sure you post your queries in the right section, otherwise people who could help you may well not see it.

My epson r285 wont recognise compatable inks

My Epson R285 will not recognise compatible cartridges, mainly the black.I ran out of black ink and installed a compatible cartridge but it did not recognise it.To get the printer running I had to buy a genuine one which worked.I then ran out of all the other colours soon after and installed compatible ones which were accepted.I have now ran out of the black again but the printer will not accept the compatible cartridge. How can I solve this problem as the printer has accepted black compatibles before.
Thanks Padgy

Printer says "Install ink cartridges correctly and then hit ok"

Try putting genuine ink it. If it still refuses to recognise the carts then it need to go back to Epson for a warranty repair. As an Epson eng 90% of the time, rubbish compatible cartridges are the source of such issues. They can even make the printer stop recognising genuine carts.

Do not mention to Epson that you used compatibles or they may refuse the warranty repair.

Cartidge problem

Many "compatible" cartridges are badly manufactured or even labeld wrong. These can damage or block the connectors on Epson printers. your best bet is go buy new ink and try them, then if it still dont recognise, you could buy some ink cleaning cartiridges and give them a try - Google "Epson Print Head cleaning" Failing that go buy a new printer - Epson's are real cheap new.
