This just happened to our TV as well. TV was working, we left the room for a few minutes, and when we came back it was off and we couldn't get it to come back on. Green light flashes for several minutes and then turns red. DVD is on so the power outlet is fine. The thing is just dead. Self fix??? Service call??? New TV??? Help!

Try unplugging the tv for a few minutes and see if that does it. if not sometimes there is a reset button on the back. there could be dust inside the back cover that is also shorting out...last resort though. Good luck1

I put a mug of water in the microwave, left the room. Came back, and the room was filled with a burning electrical/plastic smell, no visible smoke. Now, the microwave completely powers off after 1 second...

Since there was no smoke, it's not a transformer. It's most likely a high voltage diode or magnetron. The magnetron would be over heating and opening a thermal cut out mounted to or near it.

Picture keeps going out on Philips TV 47PFL3704D/F7, 2009 model. The sound stays on. It happens very randomly-may be fine for several hours, may happen every few minutes. Also happens when playing video...

I think that the connectors from the backlight inverter board that go to the LCD panel's backlight are a bit loose which explains why it comes back on when tapped. I am positive that unplugging and replugging the inverter cables should do the trick. WOuld like to do it yourself? It requires you to open up the tv ofcourse.

What is OPC flashers on screen sometimes

Same problem. TV worked night before and then would turn on but no picture or sound. Power and OPC lights blinking. I couldn't change the channel or get to the menu.
I disconnected the coaxial cable and the power for a few minutes and then plugged it back in (electric) but left the cable off. I got a message that it couldn;t get a signal. At that point I was able to change the channels. I plugged the cable line back in and everything worked fine... Good luck!!!
