There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

devin1068, You havn't told me any history of your unit! ! ! Did u buy it today? Is it 3-- 4yrs old? What was it doing 3days before? If it was OK the day before today, what did the text or graphics look like? Is this unit covered by a ViewSonic WARRANTY? If unit is new, Have you tried to return it to the place where you purchased it? Will the front panel "ON/OFF" button light-up the little LED power-on indicator? Can you HEAR anything happen when you press the on/off front panel switch? Did you SEE any sparks, smoke or fire? Did you power it from the same power strip or UPS back-up as the PC and printer and desk lamp? If unit WAS working and is now dead, (or appears to be) did you perform the standard "flashlight" test on your LCD panel w/CCFL backlighting, that EVERY owner of an lcd display should know how to do and be able to interpret the results of this simple, easy to do test when the BLACK SCREEN of DEATH strikes without warning. Do you know the top two reasons for LCD monitor failure? Did you do any research on the web at YOUTUBE? There are lots of video clips on "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" that you could view FYI !!!. GET BACK HERE ON FIXYA WITH A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION. Be glad to help you determine a course of action. I'm 12fixlouie at fixya. lmistyrel @aim.com
