No Picture, connected and powersource connected but just a black screen

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

devin1068, You havn't told me any history of your unit! ! ! Did u buy it today? Is it 3-- 4yrs old? What was it doing 3days before? If it was OK the day before today, what did the text or graphics look like? Is this unit covered by a ViewSonic WARRANTY? If unit is new, Have you tried to return it to the place where you purchased it? Will the front panel "ON/OFF" button light-up the little LED power-on indicator? Can you HEAR anything happen when you press the on/off front panel switch? Did you SEE any sparks, smoke or fire? Did you power it from the same power strip or UPS back-up as the PC and printer and desk lamp? If unit WAS working and is now dead, (or appears to be) did you perform the standard "flashlight" test on your LCD panel w/CCFL backlighting, that EVERY owner of an lcd display should know how to do and be able to interpret the results of this simple, easy to do test when the BLACK SCREEN of DEATH strikes without warning. Do you know the top two reasons for LCD monitor failure? Did you do any research on the web at YOUTUBE? There are lots of video clips on "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" that you could view FYI !!!. GET BACK HERE ON FIXYA WITH A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION. Be glad to help you determine a course of action. I'm 12fixlouie at fixya. lmistyrel @aim.com

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Why is screen black?

It's most likely faulty or wrong inverter part. Make sure you have the exact inverter part. Also, check your connections just in case loose connection.

How to replace Battery on Powersource 400

Just found this while looking for instructions. Didn't find any, so I figured it out. There are two black pegs in the bottom. Slide a flat head screw driver under them to pry them up. There is a phillips screw in each of the corners. Just shine a flashlight in to see which side has the head. Once you pull those 4, there is a 5th phillips screw hidden under the center sticker on the same side. Pull the sticker up and pull that screw. The last thing is a pair of clips on the top edge; just slide a flat head screw drive under the now-loose cover at one of the top corners and slide it down to pop the panel off. Batteries in mine are 2x RT12200 12v 20AH batteries.

HP compaq nx9110 has a very very dull screen when running on electricity. When you run it on battery it is perfect. However battery last for seconds and cuts out.Obviously the battery needs replacing....

You'll have to replace the battery, of course...but for fixing the screen thing...you'll have to see if the powersource has the exact parameters that are writen on it...like for example I had the same problem with a fujitsu...and the actual charger, or powersource was having a lower output that the one writen on it...it was a 14 Volt, and 2 Amper, that was writen, but it only had 12 Volts and 1.3 Ampers at the output, when I measured it...so...I had to replace a 4.7 Ohm resistor, right at the exiting points, and it got fixed, so what I mean to say that after replacing the battery, you really have to check the powersource for any errors and see if the output is identical to the one writen on it...please tell me if I was right.

Black pictures with blue lines running horrizontally through them

If you are able to see the picture in the LCD in black color and if there are no damages to the LCD -the LCD is fine. There is a back light panel attached behind the LCD which may be defective.Check for the loose connections. If you need spare parts contact me.
