Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

I am having canon powershot S2. Currently, No image is appearing when I turn it ON but I can see the pics that I took but not before i take it. Even if I take a snap, a image is stored but it will be dark. I did press the DISP button twice but no luck. \r\n

btbaliga, A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help. You'll need to manually copy and paste the below link into your browser as Fixya message reply's do not have an option for including links.

Same problem here on a Power Shot A3150 IS with a 8GB micro SD.
All worked well, then bom, only unidentified images. But the camera doesn't tell you unless you review the images...
Tried 5 recovery softwares dso far, some recover the images into a bmp, which then also says unidentified image... Even the camera can't read them.
And if I take a movie, I get an ASCII chaos in the folder the images are recorded in. No solution so far.

Hi. Turn on the camera and go into the menu and find the reset function. Reset it. That may solve your problem. If it does not, you could go for a repair or a replacement. Some shops will give you a free estimate. Joe

I took pics with no memory card can i retrieve the pics on card ?

Hello

Please follow these steps:

insert card> turn on cam to auto> press review> "reading memory card" > press menu> scroll down to image storage> press ok to select> select INTERNAL MEMORY> press ok

scroll down to COPY> Copy pictures to memory card> scroll down to all> press ok
message to expect: "copying"

when it goes to back the menu screen
scroll to IMAGE STORAGE again and select AUTO> ok> "reading memory card"

This should do the trick.

Kind regards

Hi, i took a series of shots nothing on card

Maye they were accidentally saved to the internal memory and not the card?

approved cards follow:

http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6/kw/d100/r_id/116678
---
The following is a brochure for your camera from the digital archives:
http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/slr/d100/index.htm
originally the camera had the following storage specifications: CompactFlash™ (CF) Card (Type I/II) and 512MB/1GB Microdrive™

---
If there is an internal memory, then sometimes the memory holds the pictures you took, and not the external memory card.

Problem with SD card, Canon Ixus 100 IS

Could be the camera isn't seeing/reading the card properly.

I'd check the contacts on the card, and in the camera are clean, free of grease & dust.

Rather than do anything drastic, Have a look at the Canon website and or contact them, Details below.

Err CF

TRy and reformat the CF card through the camera. Youll lose the pics for sure but you cant see them anyway. You can also check for bent pins in the CF slot. Sometimes if you shut down the camera in mid write to the card, itll mess up the cards FAT (file directory)
