Please if possible come back to the question here and rate it 4 thumbs. It looks like the answer helped you, but for some reason it doesn't rate it 4 thumbs unless you come back a second time and specify 4 out of 4 thumbs. I hope you will do this for me. One way is to go into Settings - Security Settings - BD/DVD Parental Control Region Code and set the code (US=region 1) As far as blue ray, you may have to "jailbreak" the PS3.
On the ps3 there are no region codes, it should be able to play all of
them. However, something could have happened so you can go to the main
menu on the ps3, go to the settings display, click on DVD settings, and
change the region code to your desired code or simply "all"
Yes you can change the region code on your Ps3.
1.) Go to BD / DVD Parental Control Region Code (don't ask me why its under parental control)
2.) Change the region code from United States to "Other". If it asks for specific check online to see what region the DVD's are from.
No, the only way is to buy a PS3 from the region you are needing. However, if you own the DVD you can make a copy of the dvd using your computer and the program DVDFAB that will play on your PS3 because DVDFAB will remove the region lock. Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.
I think you wanted to write that you CAN'T watch DVDs or play games bought in Australia on your PS3.
The reason is the region code of your playstation. It only can play Region Code 2 DVDs and games. In Australia you only can buy Region Code 4 media.
You need to buy your media from south africa or Europe. Some blueray-discs are region code free. You can check this on: http://www.blurayregioncodes.com/
As far as I know it's not possible at the moment to change the region code of the play station.
