I have a Bissell BigGreen carpet cleaner. The spray trigger appears not to be working. The flow indicator is going as soon as I turn it on and it appears as if water just continually comes out.

There is a solenoid that activates when you press the trigger and allows water to flow. If it isn't stopping, you most likely have a bad solenoid. Take it to your local vac shop for repair.

Hi my vax rapide ultra carpet cleaner seems to continually spray without operating the trigger and this makes extraction of the water/ solution difficult. Is this continoues spray normal?

No it should only spray when the trigger is pressed. After spraying you go over the area to suck the water out. The valve on the trigger is faulty. I found this

I had the same problem, after buying a new clean water tank the problem was still there. I decided to see how it works and discovered the little shut off valve that the trigger operates is sticking in the open position. I am now trying to find a new valve.

ran out of water? (if water) >
Is there some form of water filter?
Problem with the trigger?
Bad steam heating element or the power connection supplying the power to it?
Of could it just be tired and need a break? (grin)

What setting do I need to have the machine on to **** up the excess water? I want to download the manual but can't seem to find a link to do so, how would I do that?

You should have the vacuum set to Wash/Rinse for all steps in cleaning. Press the trigger to release the cleaning solution and push the vacuum forward. With the trigger still pressed, bring the vacuum back towards you). Then release the trigger and again move the vacuum forward and then back. Repeat the "dry" strokes until the dirty water enters the dirty water tank. Watch the water going through the dirty water tank lid. Empty the dirty water tank if the suction fails or the tone changes. Do more dry strokes after cleaning the entire surface until you do not see more water entering the dirty water tank.

The manual is available from Hoover at the product site: http://hoover.com/products/details/f7411900/max-extract-dual-v-widepath-carpet-cleaner/ . The direct link is here: http://hoover.com/file/592/ .

I hope this helps.

No water dispenses from my hoover ultra steam vac model F5883-900 when the trigger is squeezed.

Remove the clean water tank and look in the opening just behind the black grommet. Operate the trigger - you should see the valve move downward as the trigger is pressed. If it is NOT moving, then you will need to have the trigger plunger shaft repaired/replaced

Why won't our Hoover Floor mate deliver water for cleaning?

After reading postings I created my own solution. I took a 1.5cm (approximate length) flush head finishing screw and screwed it into the button contact of the white memebrane and adjusted it to the necessary heigth to make the rod depress at the corrrect depth. My initial placement was too high and I had a continuos flow of water, but was able to fine tune. Also note the head of the screw I used was a similar circumference of the nob of the white membrane.

Water coming out w/out trigger being pressed

You may have a problem with the valve at the bottom of the tank, or a water line has come loose. How old is this, there is a 1 year warranty, so if less then a year, take it in for repair.

Plugged water line?

The trigger in the handle is clipped into two plastic snaps. When the trigger is pressed, the trigger pivots in these snaps and the pressure is transmitted through a rod connected to the trigger down to a valve located under the water tank. If the machine has been carried by the top handle insead of the carry handle that is incorporated into the water tank, the extra stress on the trigger will break off the snaps and the trigger will not function properly. Take the water tank off the machine and press the trigger. Observe the valve below the tank support and see if the rod is pressing down on it.
You might also check the hoses that come down the handle where they turn at the bottom of the tank. Sometimes they kink there and this will restrict water flow.
If you have been using the wrong shampoo, that is shampoo not designed for hot water extractors, it is possible for it to congeal in the lines and plug them.

Too much water coming out.

When you press the trigger an angled piece on the end of the plastic rod attached to the trigger pushes valve button in that then releases fluid. On releasing the trigger, the valve button is supposed to be pushed back out by an internal spring. The button gets sticky with evaporated cleaning fluid and does not come back out, causing fluid to continuously run. Try taking the machine outside, fill the tank with very hot water, pull the trigger, and let the clean, hot water flow through the valve. Perhaps it will free up. If not, the valvle will have to be replace. Either way, once it is working, ALWAYS flush the entire system with hot, clean, clear water to remove any cleaning solution in the system or it will only clog again
