I would need more information about your problem. If you are referring to the brush block assembly, you should be able to remove it by "pinching" the front and back of the block assy, at both ends and then pulling the assembly out.

It is a float that signals the tank is full. It floats up as the tank fills up. When it gets to the top it cuts off the suction so it does not stuck water into the motor

It could be one or more different things. The brush assembly might have an obstruction. The shaft coming out of the brush assembly might have broken. It could be a clogged screen or filter. It could be the turbine is not working properly.

Make sure that there are no clogs in any of the hoses. Also, check any belts. Make sure that they are in place and they are spinning.

Typically there is a little red filter accessible from the bottom of the cleaner. Lay it down and flip it over to take a look. It's a little screen like filter. Large particles than can possibly cause a clog are filtered out there. Just pull it out (it will only come out part way) and clean the debris from it.

I have a Hoover Steam Vac also. Learned that trick the hard way. If that's not the problem (it usually is) then I will need the model number from your machine. Hopefully they didn't put it on the bottom of the machine where the numbers wear off. That's where mine was.

On the front of the recovery tank is a slide-out piece. lift up and out (or down-depending on your model). On the end of the hose is a piece the same size and shape as the one on the tank. Slide it down in the slot in the recovery tank. You'll see a little push door labeled
"upholstery and floor attachment". Push down on the top of the door to open it. Then take the hose attached to the piece inserted in the recovery tank and push it into the upholstery and floor access door.
