Suddenly, the temerature of the refrigerator and freezer went up to the point that the ice cubes and ice cream melted. Sounds like the compressor is working. I may have left a door ajar for quite a few...

try unplugging it for a day a so to let the evaporator coil defrost. When left open for long periods the evaporator coil will build too much ice blocking air flow. You might have apuddle of water under the fridge after the melt. -->

Ice cream melting

Your freezer is in problem. Please check :
1. Compressor for defective. Please check the sound compressor, if still normal check the refrigerant . Please top up the gas if needed 2. Thermostat for malfunction. This part give trigger to compressor to running and stop. You can test its operation while your compressor working normal. If your compressor is defective, the thermostat will not work. So please fix the item #1 before you go the latter item.

I have one and half year old Kenmore refrigerator. Model 106.58902802. Now suddenly refrigerator portion of it stopped working. All the ice cubes melted. Can you suggest what could be wrong?

Check compressor working. If yes, keep your arm on discharge side. It's warm and whistling sound (nicely) inside the freezer means it's working well.If no warm in discharge side, gas leak or chocked. Remove all gas, leak test and flush out the system. Then do gas charging.

Hi My fridge has suddenly stopped cooling. However the compressor is working. I have a single door samsung. It was not getting defrosted so we switched off the power and let the ice melt however my maid...

It is possible that the auto defrost timer is faulty and must be checked.Once the compresoor has been shut down and restarted the timer should shut down the compressor and defrost connecting the heaters.Hence check timer heater and also the thermostat(it must shut down at low setting).

My MAYTAG FREEZER IS RUNNING ALL THE TIME AND FROSTING UP , ALL OF A SUDDEN. FRIDGE PART IS WORKING FINE. IT IS A TOP FREEZER MTB1976HE MODEL.

Sounds like your condenser is icing up and is not blowing enough cold air into the frig compartment to satisfy the thermostat. That is why the compressor with not shut off. You probably have a defrost problem due to a bad defrost heater of defrost thermostat (different from control thermostat) One solution is to shut of the frig to allow ice to melt off and restart to see if it repeats the same problem. Hope this helps

Our freezer is not cold, food is defrosting, ice is melting. Refrigerator is working, freezer is not. We hear compressor running continuously. This is a side by side Amana model with water & ice maker...

Look at the back of the freezer wall from inside the freezer. Is there frost on it? If there is, you need to replace one of the components of the defrost system. If there is no frost then you need to have a repair made to the sealed system, it is either out of gas or the compressor is running inefficiently
