The tub has its own suspension to avoid having the machine walk away from its position.
The chassis normally has four suspension points and when one of these gives way, any imbalance can cause the tub to hit the inside of the cabinet.
Removing the back panel of the machine and using a good light, the offending suspension part can be found by having someone rock the tub by hand.
In some machines, this suspension is nothing more than some very thick, round rubber doughnuts and are generally not hard to replace.
Any appliance parts store will be able to supply these.
