To install printer first you have to start the printer spooler service in services tool....start...>run..>type services.msc enter start the print spooler service..................

make sure the your printer driver CD is working fine .... if not working down load new driver and try ..........

Trying to hookup bjc 80 to acer aspire 4730z running vista, don't have disc but am hooked up via usb.
you need the printer driver for vista in order to be able to print out. But Canon does not offer drivers for XP and Vista for bjc-80, however you can manually install the driver for BJC-85 and get the printing function going, but the scanner cartrige does not work through USB.

8 beeps is a printhead error meaning you need to replace the printhead and not just the ink.

BJC 80 w/ Vista OS prints 1/2 page and goes to error mode.
Purchase a PCMCIA parallel port card. That's a PC Card parallel port adapter. It provides a native parallel port to laptops that do not have one built in. Works perfectly in ALL cases, even with the scanner cartridge.

I have a canon bjc 80 connected via usb to acer laptop with vista on says hardware successfully installed & sounds like it is printing but will not feed paper or print !! have not used a disc to install...
Purchase a PCMCIA parallel port adapter. the USB to parallel adapters are a pain to set up and are flakey at best. The PC card adapter provides a native parallel port to laptops without one, and works perfectly in ALL cases, even with the scanner cartridge.

Error problem on Canon BJC-80
Try this:
1: Unplug Power Cord

2: Hold POWER and RESUME buttons

3: Plug in Power Cord

4: Release buttons after the printers starts up

5: Hold CARTRIDGE and RESUME

6: Press POWER

7: Release all buttons after the beeps

8: Press CARTRIDGE 16 times

9: Press RESUME

10: Unplug the Power cord

Error light stay on
probably needs a new printhead. try switching with a good if know a friend with bjc 50/80/80. all are compatible.
