The screen on my HP Pavilion dv 1000 is too dark. The probem extends 2/3's from the left and almost 1/4 of the screen from the left. It's becoming so bad I barely can read the screen. Thre problem seems to be getting worse.

If turning up the brightness hasn't helped then the lcd is likely going to fail soon.

option 1: hook it up to an external monitor.
option 2: Look for a replacement lcd on e-bay
option 3: Get a new laptop

HP will charge a lot for the display if they even still stock it.

Hope this helps.

Hello, I have a problem with hp pavilion dv

Try lowering your display settings when it is hooked up to the external monitor. Then try the laptop screen again.
Right click an open area of the desktop, select properties, click the display tab. In the lower left of the box there is a settings slider, try lowering the settings and see if it gets better.

Your laptop's monitor went bad and needs to be replaced. I had the same problem on an IBM laptop I had. Replacing the monitor costs between $120-220.

Pavilion dv 1000 won't reboot, stand by nor turn off

I had this kinda problem solved on a Acer 5920 LAptop. The webcam driver was the culprit. Remove the cam driver for the same, the windows driver will take over and then i guess it will work fine. I figure its a driver issue or a TSR program not quitting. If this fails try uninstalling recently addes program or driver.

SD card reader

1) There is SD card reader on pavilion dv 1000, so you need adapter in which you insert mini SD card to make it SD
2) If you have that adapter, check adapter. Maybe it's broken.
3) If your card is biger, like 2GB or higher you may try updatenig drivers (I read on one web page: " There was a software update for support of reading and using higher memory SD cards, for my pavilion ZV5000, on the HP Software update website." )
