Lift the document feeder and clean the small exposure glass located to the left of the main exposure glass. There must be some alien substance on it like glue, ink or correction fluid.Any mark on this small exposure glass will cause lines to appear on transmitted faxes.

Whenever i send a fax, the machine confirms by viewing 'TRANSMITTING OK' but the addressee receives a blank document

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting.

It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty.

To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly.

It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.

When I receive a fax, it prints out perfectly. When I make a copy or scan to fax/email, the page has multiple black lines running down the length of the page. I have recently replaced the drum and the...

As the fax receives and prints incoming faxes ok then the print engine is working ok. the fact that the problem arises when copying or scanning indicates the problem is with the scanner or software that controls the scanner.
First clean both scanner glasses and the white area (white reference) under the doc feeder. When you are happy all is clean, follow the following instructions:
Press menu, * 2864 within 3 seconds. the display will show "Maintenance"
now press 55. The scanner will initialise and go back to "Maintenance"
now press 99 and the machine will go back to the default screen showing date and time.
Now do a copy. if you still have the lines or its all black then you will need a new contact image sensor. If all is well then that was a good cheap repair.

HOW DO I GET MY FAXES OUT OF THE MEMORY?

Receiving a fax
Receiving a fax automatically
1 Make sure the printer is on and is connected to a working phone line.
2 Make sure that Auto Answer is on.
To check if Auto Answer is on:
a From the printer control panel, press (tool icon).
b Press the arrow buttons until Fax Setup appears, and then press ok.
c Press the arrow buttons until Ringing and Answering appears, and then press ok.
d Press again.
Check to see if Auto Answer is set to On.
e If Auto Answer is not set to on, press the arrow buttons until On appears, and then press to save the setting.
3 Set the number of times the telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes:
a Press the arrow buttons until Pick-up On appears, and then press ok.
b Press the arrow buttons until the setting that you want appears, and then press to save the setting.
When the number of rings you set is detected, the printer automatically receives the incoming fax.
Receiving a fax manually
1 Make sure the printer is on and is connected to a working telephone line.
2 Make sure that Auto Answer is off.
3 To receive the fax, press (green botton) or press * 9 * on the telephone after you answer it and hear fax tones.
4 Hang up the telephone.
The printer receives the fax.
Receiving a fax with an answering machine
1 Make sure that Auto Answer is on.
2 Make sure you have set the number of times the telephone rings before receiving a fax automatically.
When a telephone ring is detected, the answering machine picks up the call.
• If the printer detects a fax, it receives the fax and disconnects the answering machine.
• If the printer does not detect a fax, the answering machine receives the call.

3 Set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does.
For example, if you set the answering machine to answer calls after three rings, set the printer to answer calls
after five rings.
Forwarding faxes
Use the fax-forwarding feature if you are going to be away, but still want to receive your faxes. There are three
fax-forwarding values or settings:
• Off—(Default)
• Forward—The printer sends the fax to the designated fax number.
• Print & Forward—The printer prints the fax and then sends it to the designated fax number.
1 Make sure the printer is on and is connected to a working telephone line.
2 Press the arrow buttons until Fax Setup appears, and then press ok.
3 Press the arrow buttons until Ringing and Answering appears, and then press ok.
4 Press the arrow buttons until Fax Forward appears, and then press ok.
5 Press the arrow buttons until Forward or Print & Forward appears, and then press ok.
6 Enter the number to which you want to forward the fax, and then press ok.

I have a Brother Fax 2850. When I send a fax the receiver has advised me that there is a vertical black line approx 2'' thick which blocks out some wording. How do I fix this?? Many Thanks Heather

Something is jammed in or covering the optics.
Check the area where the original document is placed for faxing.
Open this area and clean any liquid paper, sticky tape or staples covering the optics.
Test by making a copy. When the black line on a copy goes away the unit is fixed.
If the receiver is still getting this black line then it is probably their machine and not yours.
Send a fax to this number. 1300 368 999 It will send you back a copy of what it receives.

SHARP UX-A1000 - sends all BLACK page (to all

Noisy line? is all that strikes true when you ensure me it makes great photocopys, but then you receive OK, very strange, All the mechanisms for doing a local copy is the same as sending a fax the difference is the conversion to phone noise so it has to be electronic, I;d guess lightning/power surge, cant think of much else....sorry

My brother fax machine - only receives black pages

do a quick check on 2 things.
- Copy a document(put a printed page on document feeder and press Copy button) , has the Copy come ok? if copy is also blank that means toner/ink problem, needs to be replaced.

- check with your Fax receive Print settings. is any setting of econo mode/ contrast/brightness Off the track? If found any of such issue then Reset it or put it on average (middle).

Hope this will put your Brother on the track

How do I receive faxes with an Epson Stylus 300f?

your computer has to be set to answer the phone so it receives the data and sends it to your printer. unless the data is demodulated via the modem or other demodulating softwarew .. it cannot be printed and or viewed. check your settings in the "printers and faxes area of the control panel to verify proper settings or make any necessary changes.
